About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see what's there to be seen.

ABOUT ME

I have a degree in the arts, but my interest in science has led me to use my humanities skills to support research as a grant writer. I love tiny houses, water of all sorts, knitting, jumping into piles of leaves and drinking hot chocolate on porch swings. I have worked for theaters, museums, art conservators, social service consultants, an opera and now I work for one of the best hospitals in the US - so I like... variety. I try to keep a small footprint by keeping veg, living in a walkable neighborhood, buying used or vintage and generally being attentive to all the little things that needlessly waste resources.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

But I'm not sure what my current/future participation will look like since I have less free time, but I like the concept enough that I can't bring myself to give it up.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Surfed once and co-hosted a number of people.

Interests

Knitting, sailing, tinkering - hiking anywhere there's water. I love a good museum, sculpture center, botanical garden or ethnic restaurant.

Music, Movies, and Books

A variety, classical mostly - although I am close to one of the best orchestras in the world, I don't go as often as I should, since I'm not terribly fond of their conductor.

I love all sorts of books: nonficition, fiction, dictionaries... I'll dive into almost anything if I have time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiking <2mi of the AT in VT on a whim (in near freezing weather) (2009); Attending the 2009 Solar Decathlon; Punting on the River Cam (2005); Conserving WPA mosaic murals at the Ohio Supreme Court Building (2004); Singing Beethoven's 9th with the Cleveland Orchestra (2003); Painting the halftime set for Superbowl XXXII (1998)

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, United Kingdom, United States
