About Me

I just graduated from college in 2018 and have since started my journey to fulfill the dream of traveling the world. Right now I'm traveling locally and building up experiences, hoping that one day I can take my big trip to see places from my childhood dream. I'm from Vietnam originally but have been in the Columbia, SC for a few years. I'm taking gap years before ultimately going back to school, so hopefully, I will get to live my life as a young and dumb 20-something-lady and meet great people from all over the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Over a year ago, when I was on the verge of depression, when I felt like there's not much in this world I can live for, I heard someone said this: "The most exciting realization one can ever have is just how much there is to do in the world, and the most depressing realization anyone can have is how little time there is to do it all."

I thought about the fun and great experience I had with just one person and came to a crazy realization of how much more of those fun and great experiences this world could possibly offer me.

So I travel. And I got on CS. I hope to surround myself with great new people - people who would teach me how big the world is and how many experiences there are out there I can have; and I hope one day I would be the one to show others the great realization I had that day too.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I have quite a random selections of favorite bands and artists, ranging all the way from folk-style Chinese music, K-Pop, American country music, indies, to alternative rock and metal. Right now I'm listening to Kodaline and Seafret. The one album that I can sing to every single song is Taylor Swift's "Speak Now".

Movies: Pretty much similar to my music. I'm watching The Office and the Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace atm.

Books: Be With You by Takuji Ichikawa; Time Will Never Go Back (or more exactly, The Youth That We Can't Go Back To) by Tong Hua, Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I jumped off an airplane in Wilmington, NC and almost got married to a random dude in Nashville, TN.
The second one is not so amazing, but it's pretty funny imho.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach - I can teach you some basic ballet movements and how to play a few simple pop songs with a ukulele. I can also teach you how to make some Vietnamese dishes and green Thai curry. I can also, of course, teach you how to speak Vietnamese :)

Learn - Teach me your languages and your cool bar tricks!

Share - I love reading, so definitely I would love to exchange some of the great books I've read. This also applies to movies as I've read/seen quite a variety of books/movies from many different countries as well as genres. I'm capable of babbling a lot on many random topics, so we can share our knowledge/viewpoint on a myriad of teeny tiny things :)
