About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Current mission ? None. Misssionary is a position, not a way of life.

ABOUT ME

We (+ cat )live in central Paris on a two storey appartment : bedrooms (old maid's rooms) upstairs, flat downstairs(3 rooms + kitchen and bath) on the last two floors of a very old building, but we have a balcony covered with flowers all summer. Our boy is 28 and our girls have moved away with their boy friends. As they travel a lot and have enjoyed hospitality we believe we could reciprocate. We have had many guests from abroad sometimes for fairly long stays(over two weeks). We are open minded and we hope our guests are, too. We all have a good command of English . Our boy plays football and is into sports, coaching a young girls team.

PHILOSOPHY

I like poetry, novels, classic films, great wines and fine food, long conversations, politics, history and boxes made of corrugated board with their very special smell. Philosophy : "What me worry" from Mad Magazine.
I am a bit old fashioned when it comes to certifying my profile on social networks. This is why I am not "certified" on CS via my Credit Card number or Paypal account.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We hope to make you love Paris and what it has to offer.

IT IS NOT MUCH TO OFFER.
BUT IT IS GIVEN IN FRIENDSHIP.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have couchsurfed many times in the past century before the word even existed...I also have had guests from Beijing, Tokyo, Agadir, Boston, Montreal, Haiti, Germany, England etc...I have pushed my luck quite a few times being hosted while "on the road".

Interests

In my free time, I am member of the board of a big football club in Paris, 150 girls and roughly 600 Boys. My wife paints and does pastel drawings. We all read a lot, mainly international litterature. We also share a common interest in fine wines and food. I love good writing and style. Since I retired, I have shared my time between Britany and Paris. In fact, we spend more time in our country home near the ocean than we do in Paris.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a few hundred DVD's of films at home along with thousands of books. As for music, we have a piano, my daughter plays the flute, we also have one or two guitars and hundreds of records. I keep my options open.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

You would not believe how boring my life has been after two marriages, three kids, hitch hiking across the USA, doing archeological diggings, going back to Europe on a ship after a year in the States, spending three years traveling across Europe as a steward on luxury sleeper trains, being seduced by too many women, keeping two flats, one in NYC, one in Paris, starting my own company, selling it after 20 years, cuddling my cat, balooning with friends. Really, nothing to write home about.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have learnt a lot from my University professors, but also from gas station attendants or plant workers doing three shifts... If one knows how to listen, everybody has something to teach.
