About Me

I'm an open-hearted and open-minded wanna-be-happyhippie who loves to smile and laugh.

I've always loved to travel and explore, either physically or mentally. In the latter half of my twenties
I realized that there lives a little real-life adventuress in me, so now I've started to develop her and make her stronger, to try to satisfy this little and not-yet-fully-discovered being's needs.

I'm a life's philosopher (well, who isn't...). I want to challenge myself and learn to take new perspectives on life and all that there is. It is important for me to meet and get to know new people to be able to see everything in a broader sense.

At the moment I'm making a long-held dream come true: visiting and exploring Iceland! I'm in the beginning of my journey (on my every journey) staying at my friend's place in Reykjavik. I'm planning to do some workawaying later on, but on my way there I'd like to see different places in Iceland and of course meet people living here.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet and get to know people from all around the world.
To enjoy life, to give and receive, to learn!
To offer my couch and/or company to people when it's possible.

I joined CS during my exchange year in Nantes, France to meet and get to know some locals.
During that year I stayed with a couple of my friends with some amazing and kind people in Lyon, Barcelona,
Madrid, London and Cambridge.

I hope I'll be able to pay back the generosity of the people I've encountered thus far by offering my couch to travellers some day.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a huge appetite for different types of music.

Movies I really enjoy. One of my favourite directors is Peter Greenaway.
He has truly made an impression on me with all his movies.

I LOVE books and reading.
My favourite books include definetely Hermann Hesse's Narcissus and Goldmund (it's easy to relate to the inner battle of a vagabond-artist and a homestaying-truthseeker). I love Virginia Woolf's Orlando. Lately I've been more into reading about ecological and societal stuff. I really enjoyed Collapse – Life at the end of civilisation, a book by a Swedish author David Jonstad. Also Carolyn Steel's The Hungry City - How Food Shapes Our Lives was an eye-opener.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach a thing or two about reading, understanding and shaping one's built environment.

I can also share my kowledge of the nooks and crannies of the Finnish culture.

More than teach (though I like teaching as well since I have worked as a teacher in architecture a couple of years) I like to share ideas and experiences on different matters and have conversations that expand one's mind a bit more.

I love to cook delicious vegetarian food and there's nothing better than sharing a meal prepared together in good company.

Yoga is my newly-found passion so why not sharing a practice too.
Actually my dream is to become a yoga instructor one day...

What I Can Share with Hosts

As mentioned above, I can share delicious vegetarian cooking.

Ideas on life in general.
A good laugh.
Maybe a long walk in the hoods (or in the woods as I appreciate nature and forests).
