About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Saving the world... usually by theorizing about it in every way possible
ABOUT ME
The most characteristic thing I hear about myself is usually that I tend to have a "theory of everything". I'm a thoroughly inquisitive person, always curious of the world and willing to learn new things about it. Probably not the most social type, I tend to prefer small groups of people over huge crowds, but I tend to be optimistic and positive towards people. I'm currently trying to pursue an academic career in Cognitive Science (mostly as a philosopher of language interested also in developmental psychology), in my free time I am an avid fantasy reader, casual RPG gamer and I used to train karate for quite a bit (now taking a hopefully temporary break due to knee issues).
PHILOSOPHY
I am mostly a Kantist in my philosophy, although people tend to regard Kantists as heartless and I like to think of myself as a more empathic type. That said, I still believe strongly in personal responsibility and in treating other people as equals and not as tools.
Interests
I used to practice karate (and chanbara, a slightly less known sport) for a bit before I ran into problems with my knee, I still sometimes attend tournaments as a referee. I love fantasy literature and all things related (RPG games, Magic: the Gathering and so on), alhough lately I rarely get the time to enjoy it. Since every man is also a boy at heart, I play computer games sometimes (recently League of Legends, StarCraft II beforehand). And of course I try to lead a life of a researcher, so my work is my passion - I am trying to build a completely new theory of meaning for natural language based on contemporary psychological results.

Music, Movies, and Books
I used to be a big fan of power/progressive metal, Kamelot and Sonata Arctica being among my favorite bands. Now I listen more to classical music, with a strong preference in Romantic composers (Grieg, Dvorak). I also enjoy Polish sung poetry as well as good classic rock music.
I tend to devour fantasy literature, with my favorite authors being Raymond Feist and Robin Hobb, though I have read hundreds of fantasy novels. Besides that, I am quite fond of Murakami and at times I try to catch up on the occasional classic (most recently Murdoch's "Under the Net" thanks to my wonderful fiancee).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I was 10 years old, we visited the US with my parents. For the last 2 months, we went on a huge camping trip, during which we saw many of the fabulous landmarks US has to offer. Probably the most breathtaking thing was the view of the Grand Canyon when we emerged from a forest only to see a huge rift in the ground spanning for multiple kilometers.
