About Me

ABOUT ME

Hi guys! My name is Pip, I'm Australian and 21 years old. I just finished studying a BA in Communications, majoring in Social Inquiry at the University of Technology Sydney. At the moment, I am about two weeks away from embarking on a 6 month trip around South America and Central America. I'm going solo so I would very much love the opportunity to crash on the couch of all your South American's out there. :) Travel is my major addiction, I crave new experiences, meeting new people and anything adventurous! I love outdoor adventure sports, anything from rock climbing to bungee jumping to trekking to scuba diving. I absolutely love it! I'm a bit of an addict for kickboxing. It's my sport of choice back here in Australia. In the future, I'm actually think of studying medicine. Lets see what happens!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't had any yet but I'm hoping to have my first in South America!

Interests

I am addicted to new experiences! I feel confident that to know what I like, I have to try everything first! It can be to my demise sometimes, I'm overwhelmed by choice and this approach certainly doesn't narrow down my options. Some of my regular past times include:
* Writing and Reading; I read almost anything fictional (thats decent!) I dabble in the classics- there's a time and place for penguin books! I write about anything. I write about me a lot, whether it be daily Journals or travel writing and I recently have been writing Children's books, but thats more of a hobby then anything!
* Kickboxing (sport in general- Soccer is great too!) Three times a week- I'm obsessed. I would fight in the ring if I wasn't so uncoordinated, and if I was less concerned about losing the small amount of femininity I have left!
* Scuba Diving. I feel in love with it in Cambodia and continued with it in Bali. Maybe for a short time in my life I will be a Scuba Diver Instructor- we'll see!
* Travel- it would have to be my biggest hobby. I have a desire to see every corner of the earth. I want to do more than see things though, I want to be immersed. I want to work, do exchanges, and live in other parts of the world. Nothing excites me more!

Music, Movies, and Books

This is such a hard question- the list is extensive! A few favourite books:
* Rohl Dahl is my all-time favourite. He's stories have always excited me, it's just the feeling I get when I read them- nothing is better! My favourite of his is the BFG. Of course ones like Charlie and the Chocolate factory and James and the Giant peach are wonderful, but the BFG has a special place in my heart.
* Self-confessed Harry Potter fan. I grew up with these books and I think its quite the accomplishment to write a series that has captivated so many different kinds of people
* I have a fettish for books on socio-economics, at the moment I am reading one called "Nudge"- fascinating!
* So many more, i read anything!

Movies and Music- I go through phases and it depends on my mood. I've heard and seen a lot- when we chat, I'll disclose more!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing in my lifetime that I have done, has been my travel and work in India. For 3 weeks, I lived and worked as an English teacher/general carer in the Slums of Faridabad, India. I learnt more about myself and the world in this time than I ever did in school- go figure! I learnt I want to base my life around doing things that have significance. It seems pretty simple I guess, but my aim is to have meaning and purpose in even my daily job. I want to be inspired every day, not just the days that I'm travelling. My priorities and perspectives dramatically changed during this time and I gained so much more confidence. After India, I travelled independently around SE Asia at the age of 19. At 21, I'm going on to do the same thing in South America. I'm hoping that these experiences will become other amazing things that I have done in my lifetime!
