About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To oppose the global YKK zipper monopoly.

ABOUT ME

My name is Anthony. My elementary school nickname was'Smiley'. I have evolved since then. Nowadays people refer to me as APitz. Sometimes they drop the A. I have lived for some 20 years. I plan on living for many more. I was born in Melbourne, Australia - the unofficial capital of the great southern island. I grew up in a household of Italian and Greek heritage. I survived. Many would class this a miracle. I am one of those many. Despite this, or perhaps because of this, I emerged pretty well-rounded. Circular, even. I know the value of good food. And even more importantly, good company. I have been fortunate enough to have travelled the globe since I was young. But now I wish to do it on my own. I will soon sail off on a tour of the world. I will endeavour to chase the sun; I don't like winter, you see.I am an always friendly, forever social and more than commonly happy kid, taking off on adventure to explore the planet. I want to meet new people, see new things, live new ways. And eat new food.My overseas expedition begins sometime in July. I will begin in North America, fly across to Europe, and sail home through Asia. I want to shake hands with at least one million people. That is the plan.

PHILOSOPHY

I couldn't repair your breaks, so I made your horn louder.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Unfortunately I don't have space for any Couchsurfers at the moment. Hopefully though, when I have overcome these space limitations, this will change.Despite this I am very willing to share my knowledge of Melbourne town. I have walked its streets many a time - it is like a sister to me. Or at least a neighbour. Seriously though, I am well acquainted with Melbourne, and know many of its best shops and cafes. I have gathered all this information through careful trial and error. I like food and coffee, you see. Clothes too. So, travellers, let me direct you on where to go during your wanderings.Soon I will set off on another voyage overseas. I wish to navigate the world. And I hope to meet you along the way!

Interests

I draw. I read. I write. I jog. I swim. I breathe.I talk long walks along the beach at sunset.I fork spaghetti by candle-light.I watch rom-coms and eat rocky road ice-cream.Really, I like too many things to enumerate. I love music - all types, though my particular passion is for electronic music and East-Coast hip hop. I do like soul and jazz, however. And many others. I am always willing to attend a show, or a gig, or a rave, or whatever Lady Fortune brings me. I intend to indulge this love overseas.I love literature. I try to read a book a week. My room is a closet library. While many of the titles I've read would be considered high brow, I certainly do have a penchant for escapist literature. I have read hundreds of fantasy books. Nerd on! Ha!I think I'm pretty well known in my circle of friends for loving fashion. If you want to go to a store in Melbourne, chances are I know it, or know someone that knows it. At present, my favourite designers/brands are White Mountaineering, Mjolk and Nigel Carbourn. And sneakers. Man I love sneakers. I have many sneakers. You can never have too many sneakers. Or shoes, in fact. If you like sneakers, then you have made a friend for life.I really like photography and animation, also. I love to draw - I find it therapeutic. I don't think I'm very good, however. But that doesn't matter. Stemming for this is my LOVE for anime. I have a fascination with Japanese culture. Add to this their ability to produce non-adolescent cartoons. Have watched hundreds of anime shows. Sleep is for the weak.Sudoku. I really like sudoku.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love electronic music, jazz and East Coast hip-hop. I also share a passion for literature. It is too hard to decide favourites of each, but writers I like, for now at least, include: Haruki Murakami, David Foster Wallace, Ayn Rand, Albert Camus, Dave Eggers, Peter Carey, Raymond E. Feist, Patrick Rothfuss, Ernest Hemingway, Michael Chabon, and Henrik Ibson. My musical tastes are too broad to cover. But some of my favourite artists, bands, acts, etc., include: Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, James Holden, Octave One, Laurent Garnier, A Tribe Called Quest, The Pharcyde, DJ Premier, J Dilla, Outkast, Nujabes, Hot Chip, Slum Village, Nina Simone, Joris Voorn, Autechre, Nicolas Jaar, Aeroplane, Fred Falke, Alan Braxe, and Neutral Milk Hotel.I am undecided on a favourite movie. But, I really like cartoons and animation, especially anime. I lost count long ago of how many series I've watched. Too many.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spending a summer in New York recently - moved in with some Williamsburg locals for a couple months, and made some great friends for life.
