About Me

ABOUT ME

Just two words: Simple and Curious. I am a simple, friendly guy coming from a simple place in India. Also I am curious to know more. Be it about people, tradition, music, literature, food, philosophy or anything else. Currently I am on a masters course on Flood Risk Management, in which I would be traveling through 4 European countries (Germany, Netherlands, Spain and Slovenia, currently living in Denmark). Just trying to make the best use out of this incredible opportunity to explore the pan European culture.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

People say its impossible for a person to know everything about a city. And to do it in a 1 or 2 day trip, would be foolish to even think about. In such a case guidance of a local is instrumental in making the most out of a visit. I wish to harness the experience of the city dwellers to truly absorb the culture of the place I am visiting: its food habits, the attitude of the people, have a memorable experience interacting with local people and possibly many more things I have not even imagined...there is so much one can experience by just mixing with the locals.

Additionally, my trip to cities of Hungary hosted by two Hungarian families, and the 350km bicycle ride experience during which I was hosted by 3 couchsurfers have etched long term memories in my life. I would cherish to have more such experiences.

This is where I see Couchsurfing as the ideal platform to make such moments happen more often.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The best experience I ever had, which was supported by host of Couchsurfers, was a 5 day 350 km bicycle jourbey from Mastricht to Luxembourg (via cities in Netherlands, Belgium, France, back again in Belgium and then Luxembourg). We were hosted for three nights by three couchsurfers at their different places in our route. It was an incredible experience going through the natural landscape at a slow pace, taking our time, enjoying the views, and of course meeting local people and staying with them for a night. Its not easy to pen this experience down here, but may be if we meet, then we can talk at length about it. (Or you can read about it on this link : https://emfrm4.wordpress.com/5-days-4-countries-3-friends-2-abbeys-1-trip/ )
Before that, I had this following experience which continues to be one amongst the best experiences I ever had: Visiting Florida. It was a field trip organized by my institute. Apart from the highly technical things discussed in lectures, the field trip gave me a chance to explore the Seminole tribe (a native American tribe culture), have a wildlife safari in the wetlands (with airboats), Miami Beach and the epitome of inspiration the -- NASA's Kennedy Space Center (the place which sent first American person in space, first man on moon, and built first reusable space shuttle).

Teach, Learn, Share

Indian Cooking: I can give an idea of the North Indian food culture and we can make some nice food together.

And if you want to know something about floods, codes, mathematics and statistics (what I study about), and how to protect yourself, that for sure I can also share. ;)

And there is always room for some Yoga, and philosophy.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Things mentioned just above

Countries I’ve Visited

Czech Republic, France, Hungary, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Denmark, Germany, India, Netherlands, Slovenia, Spain
