About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To reinvent myself. It's time I approach life with the eyes of a child, yet with the wisdom I've acquired through the years.

ABOUT ME

I'm still trying to figure that out, to tell you the truth. I've just taken a major risk by moving from Hawaii back to Canada. I actually lost my job due to budget cuts and couldn't afford to live in Hawaii anymore. Now I'm back in Canada and struggling to keep my sanity. I have a great sense of humour, willing to give a hand to anyone who needs it and I absolutely love animals. They keep me sane in a sometimes insane world.

PHILOSOPHY

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, and this includes animals, birds, fish... It all comes back to us, one way or another. Just do your best, no matter what.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Since I don't have my own place yet and I'm very new to Toronto, I can meet someone for coffee or take a nice walk. Once I get myself a home, I can participate more.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Not long after I signed up, I had a couple of requests. How fun is that? When I went to Northern Ireland and Scotland, however, I didn't meet a single soul. Bill Wright, in Glasgow, was the first person to actually contact me but I was leaving Scotland by that time so we didn't connect. Bless you, Bill. I did get contacted by a couple of people in Ireland after I left, though. Our lines just got crossed. I'm sure glad I had prepared in advance to stay at B&B's, otherwise I would have been SOL.

Interests

I love to travel, snorkel, watch movies, read (I'm really into vampires and the Black Dagger Brotherhood), play badminton, meet new people, try new things, cook (when I have the time), go bike riding, hike, swim, animals, sleep (what a luxury that is).

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: The "300", "Shattered" (aka "Butterfly on a Wheel"), "Attila", "P.S. I Love You", "Phantom of the Opera", "Dracula 2000", "Contact", "The Day the Earth Stood Still", "Blazing Saddles", "Pride & Prejudice" (with Kyra Knightly & Matthew MacFadyan), "In and Out", "American President", "The Goodbye Girl", "E.T.", "Close Encounters of the Third Kind", "The Goonies", "Lara Croft: The Cradle of Life" and the Harry Potter films.
Music: Pretty eclectic. I like everything from movie soundtracks, especially from the movie "The Phantom of the Opera", to classical, to jazz to New Age.
Books: Anything by J.R. Ward, Stephenie Meyer, Amy Lane, Karen Marie Moning...basically, hot vampire warriors.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Wow, I've seen and done lots of amazing things. The one thing that stands out right now is my trip to the top of Mauna Kea to see the observatories. It was the most awesome place I had ever been to. It was freezing cold and we were all bundled up, but being up there, on top of the world, watching the sunset and the observatories' domes open up, then the stars appearing as close as the hand could reach, was the most awe-inspiring thing I have ever experienced. I would go again in a minute. We even got to look through a telescope and actually saw the rings around Saturn! Mindblowing? Oh yea!

Teach, Learn, Share

A quote from the film "Nim's Island" rings true for me: "Be the hero of your own life story."
