ABOUT ME
By day I engineer, by night I explore. I enjoy competitive sports, movies/music, and drinking and socializing with friends old and new. Life gets a bit busy with work, but when free time arises you can be sure it's enjoyed.
By the end of the day, trying new things and finding my balance is my thing.
PHILOSOPHY
There is no substitute for experience. One of the best freedoms we have is competition - life is sport.Tolerance is a virtue - understanding and accepting the habits and beliefs of others is the only way in becoming a true world citizen.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I host whenever I can and surf most times when I travel!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Too many good experiences to recount, but a couple that stand out off the top of my head: Beers and comedy chat on the rooftop on a cool night in Bangalore, water polo/basketball in a quarry in North Carolina, 7 long island ice teas and a dance floor in Cincinnati, a couch and a massage table in Ann Arbor, left-handed bowling and an establishment of indiscretions at my former home in Indiana, and oh so many more not mentioned and so many more to come!
Interests
Anything that can give me a rush. Virtually any sport can do that pretty well. I also appreciate the art of film. Also, a more long-term interest: I seek spirituality, but in the absence of organized religion. For the past few years I've been trying to get out of my geographic shell and see what new places have to offer. Did I come to the right place?
Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: Tend to avoid Disney/Pixar, have a soft spot for the '80s, like Bill Murray comedies, and am a fan of the horror genre. Some all-time fave series: Rockys, Die Hards, Back to the Futures, Nightmare on Elm Streets. Sin City and V for Vendetta deserve mention.
Music: Rock/Metal/Alternative dominates my collection. I put on Depeche Mode as I sleep. Select R&B/Hip-hop gets my vote.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have witnessed a cow give live birth. It was in a barn in good old Poland. Granted I was 11 years old, but the image remains forever vivid!
Teach, Learn, Share
Anyone and everyone has something useful and worthwhile to share - sometimes the biggest challenge is just establishing the right environment to facilitate this exchange of stories/ideas. I hear there is this thing known as 'liquid courage' that works pretty well.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I always like to share a piece of my home with hosts - be it a chocolate bar, a beer, or even just a story. But the best thing is the entertainment value of conversation.
