PHILOSOPHY
"Everyone is different, everyone belongs" - the motto of the elementary school where I work
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Couchsurfed around Scandinavia in summer of 2011, made wonderful friends and hope to be back next summer. I Couchsurfed in Portland, Oregon in 2009 and met great people. I've met good friends through the Couchsurfing community in Boston, Massachusetts.
Interests
I read a lot and have kept a running list of all the books I've read for the last three years... currently lots of education policy and Haruki Murakami (Japanese fiction author). I try to go to a concert or music-related event at least once a week. Currently exploring sound engineering (motivated by terrible sound systems at concerts; I haven't experienced a lot of bad ones but it's really sad when they are). I love visiting the libraries and supermarkets of wherever I travel.

Music, Movies, and Books
I've watched 42 Woody Allen movies...
Some Bands/Artists that I still haven't seen in concert that I want to see: Pavement (dare to dream), Kings of Convenience, The Whitest Boy Alive, The Cure, Andrew Bird, Morrissey, Pulp, Neko Case, Interpol, Rilo Kiley, Feist
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Took a mountain ATV ride and explored a coal mine in West Virginia in 2007; watched Stephen Malkmus (of the band Pavement) walk into a McDonald's in Brooklyn, NY in 2003; walked from Central Park to the end of the Brooklyn Bridge with my best friends from high school during the night of the Northeast Blackout of 2003; taught two first-graders how to read and love reading in 2010
Teach, Learn, Share
I can play the guitar, make simple Indian curries, cook Vietnamese food, roll sushi. I want to learn more about education outside of the US. I love visiting different types of schools and talking to teachers and students. I hope to attend as many concerts as possible (of any style of music) wherever I travel.
