About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To climb rock.....make tracks in snow......and experience new spaces and faces

ABOUT ME

Environmentally conscious; big heart and considerate to all, especially to the four-legged creatures on this earth; sometimes shy but very willing to experience new things and adventures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am relatively new to this but have heard GREAT things from a fellow couch surfer. I can offer a couch and will be looking for couches!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far I have only hosted but it was an AMAZING experience. I think the idea behind a global community is wonderful in this age of disparity and difference. How amazing it is to participate in something that unifies and seeks to bring people together instead of division!

Interests

I LOVE snow skiing - alpine and randonee. Let me repeat, I LOVE skiing! I also love mountain biking, rock climbing, hiking, trying new microbrews, red wine, dancing, and I really want to travel and experience regional culture and diversity.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't have much time to read anything besides professional stuff but I love all kinds of music and hearing live music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watching individual snowflakes gather - to imagine the crystals forming and building - such a simple thing to watch in nature but it leaves me with such peace and respect for nature.

Seeing a student in my class make a connection that they are part of a bigger, more holistic picture....one that ticks and feels and has a pulse...the natural world. THAT is amazing and is truly 'my paycheck' at the end of the day.

Teach, Learn, Share

I REALLY want to learn and experience new cultures, faces, and places in this world we live in. I have always been fascinated with where people are from and what life is like in that corner of the world. I thirst for places beyond the rote.

I am a teacher of science - soil science specifically, with an emphasis in wetlands. As such, I am particularly enthusiastic about sharing information about these resources and sustainability issues, including Fair trade and agricultural sustainability.
