About Me

👋 Hi, I'm Pooya!
🎉 I'm 24 years old and I love meeting new people, traveling the world, and experiencing new things.
🌍 Understanding the world and humans as a part of it is the meaning of my life.
🤝 I guess that's why I can not get enough of meeting new people and visiting places.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

🧳🌍 Traveling is not just about visiting a place and ticking it off a bucket list. It's about immersing oneself in the culture, the people, and the way of life. And that's why I choose to Couchsurf. 🛋️ By staying with locals, I get to experience the true essence of a place and gain a deeper understanding of its culture.

💰 Not only does Couchsurfing provide a more authentic travel experience, but it also helps to save money. 💸 By staying with hosts who generously offer their homes, I can stretch my travel budget further and explore more places. 🌟 After all, life is short, and there are so many unique destinations to see and experience.

But Couchsurfing is more than just a cost-saving option. It's a community of like-minded individuals with a passion for travel, cultural exchange, and adventure. I've met many incredible people through Couchsurfing who have become lifelong friends and travel companions.

As a host, I take great pleasure in showing my guests around my hometown of Shiraz, introducing them to Persian cuisine, and sharing stories about my culture. I'm always open to learning new things, whether it's trying a new language or cuisine or exploring a new city with a fellow traveler.

Overall, Couchsurfing has been a game-changer for me in terms of travel. It has allowed me to see the world differently, to connect with amazing people, and to create memories that will last a lifetime.

Music, Movies, and Books

I mostly listen to 🎸 rock music, but I'm not a fan of 🤘 metal. My favorite bands are 🎶 Pink Floyd and U2. Their music speaks to me on a deep level and I never get tired of listening to them.

When it comes to 🎥 movies, I enjoy watching all kinds of genres. Some of my favorite actors are 🎬 Tom Hanks and Daniel Day-Lewis. They are both incredibly talented and have played some iconic roles that have left a lasting impression on me.

As for 📖 reading, I prioritize self-development books as I believe that personal growth and learning are essential for a fulfilling life. George Orwell is also one of my favorite authors. I admire his ability to use his writing to comment on society and politics, and his ideas have resonated with me.

I find it refreshing to have a diverse range of interests and tastes. It makes life more interesting and provides the opportunity to learn and grow in different ways.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Four summers ago, I embarked on a unique adventure to a remote village called Sar-Agha-Seyed near Kouhrang in Iran. The journey to the village was challenging, as there were no paved roads and we had to climb a mountain ⛰️ to reach it. But that wasn't the end of it - on our way there, we stumbled upon a deep frozen cave that was completely covered in ice ❄️. We learned that in the summer, the ice would melt and create a river that flowed beneath the cave 🏞️.

Curiosity got the better of me 😮, and I decided to walk up the river to see where it led. The water was so cold that it only took seconds for my feet to go numb ❄️, but I was determined to reach the end of the cave. As I made my way through the river, the current grew stronger 💪 and I ended up losing one of my shoes 👞. Undeterred, I continued on with just one shoe until I finally reached the end of the cave.

It was a breathtaking sight 😍, and I felt an overwhelming sense of pride for having made it there 🏆. Even though I lost a shoe along the way 👟, the experience was worth it 💯. It was a reminder that sometimes, the most rewarding adventures require us to step out of our comfort zones and take risks 🌟.

Teach, Learn, Share

As a civil engineering student, I can talk about engineering-related subjects for hours, but I know that not everyone finds physics and mathematics exciting. However, I have a passion for architecture, particularly Iranian and Islamic architecture. 🏛️🌆

I'm always eager to learn new things, especially languages 🗣️, local food recipes 🍲, and cultures 🌍. But what really lights me up is learning a local dance 💃. I believe that dancing with locals is the moment when you can truly feel the heartbeat of a culture. 🎶

One of my favorite things to do is to talk with people from different cultural backgrounds to learn about their perspectives on life. By sharing our daily routines, we can become more familiar with the ethics of each other's cultures. 👥🌎 I'm in my twenties now, and there are millions of others who are in the same decade. I can't wait to hear about how they're spending their daily lives! 😊

What I Can Share with Hosts

👋 Hey there! I'm not the best cook, but I love cooking together! If you have any local recipes, I'd be happy to give them a try and learn from you! 🍳

My native language is Persian and I'd be thrilled to teach it to you if you're interested. I also love learning new languages, so I'd be happy to practice your local language with you too! 🗣️

Culture is one of the most fascinating things about meeting new people! As an Iranian, I'd love to share our 2500-year-old culture with you and learn about yours too. It's always exciting to find similarities between different cultures! 🌍

I enjoy exploring the city, trying out different cafes, tasting street foods, and picking up little souvenirs. Let's walk around the city together and do these things while chatting! ☕️🛍️

Biking is one of my hobbies, and it's always more fun to go biking with friends or a group. So, if possible, I'd love to explore the city on a bike with you! 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️
