We are fun-loving..ride bmw motorcycles..gardening..grandchildren..musicians..fix up old houses.. We work hard and aren't rich, but have big dreams. We like to help people and are open-minded. Love to chat and joke. Would rather dance than drink. Would rather fix something than complain. Trustworthy and have good friends and 4 adult children who live nearby.

PHILOSOPHY

To live with courage in the face of mystery. To balance the multiple claims on our attention...to learn the value in ideas and other people.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We're just starting, have joined several groups, and got verified. The recent experiences with our first four guests were incredibly rewarding. We're eagerly anticipating more visitors. In the future, we hope to travel and meet new CS contacts.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Have hosted three times and loved it. I like to look at the website to see hosts in far flung places, read their profiles and think about meeting them and making new friends. It seems more interesting than reading a "travel" book about tourist sights. I can imagine planning a trip around the locations of people we want to meet, wherever that may be. Maybe see some sights if there's time, or not.

Going to start a list that is only partial....6 decades gives a lot of time to read, watch and listen. We have many favorites.

BOOKS: Non-fiction authors such as Bill Bryson, Jeanette Walls, Wayne Johnson, Pico Iyer, Lois Pryce, Michael Perry, travel writers of all kinds.

FICTION: ROOFTOPS OF TEHRAN, THE GOOD BROTHER, SHOGUN, PEACE LIKE A RIVER, to be continued.

POETRY: Rilke, Gary Snyder, Mary Oliver, Karen Subach, too many others to mention.
MUSIC: Live! Stan and Garnet Rogers, Bob Dylan, Alison Kraus, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton, Bruce Cockburn (!), John Hiatt, Elvis Costello, some opera and jazz. Would go to the symphony...

MOVIES: A FISH CALLED WANDA; LIFE OF BRIAN; MOONSTRUCK; PARENTHOOD; GRBAVICA, The Land of My Dreams; SOMETHING LIKE HAPPINESS(Slama); TIME AFTER TIME; SILVERADO, BUCKAROO BONZAI, LONESOME DOVE, RAMBLIN' ROSE, FIFTH ELEMENT.
