Overview
About Me
I've had wanderlust for as long as I remember. As a child, my family would go on frequent and long road trips that ultimately took us through all 48 contiguous US states. After completing my first degree, my friend and I traveled to 18 countries in Europe, Africa, Asia, and Middle-East. Needless to say, I was hooked! However, traveling from Canada is not as easy due to the vast ocean distances involved; had I been living in Europe, I could have visited 20 countries in a month! Wait! I just did that!! From late April to early June 2019 I traveled 22 countries in Europe!! So, now I've now been to 67 countries on 5 continents and still feel I've barely scratched the globe.
Background-wise, I have numerous interests and am always open to learning new things.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've been host to hundreds of people at my home over the past 6 years; these have been students of spirituality traveling to Toronto to visit our Canadian meditation centre's headquarters (located right near my home). I've really enjoyed hosting all these visitors and finally decided to open up my home to other visitors as well.
As I work from home, I may have time during the day to show the visitor around our amazing city.
Note: Hosting will be done in conjunction with "Lokhi"; she's an experienced couchsurfer and we both look forward to making your stay super memorable. :)
Interests
I've been a photographer for 25+ years now, starting off in the darkroom processing and developing my own prints. Seeing the image come alive in a chemical bath right in front of my eyes was a game changer for me and I've been hooked on photography since. With the advent of digital cameras, it's not as magical but I still do enjoy the whole shooting & creative editing process.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
There are so many but I'd have to say retiring from the corporate world at age 31 would be near the top. I'd been consulting for a dozen very large companies across Canada & USA by that time, so leaving that "known" world for the "unknown" was a huge leap. I've since set up 8 income sources and now have plenty of time to do the things I want (including hosting couch surfers). Meanwhile, most of my peers will still be waiting another 20+ years to retire.
Oh, I must mention that I went hang-gliding in 2012. It's amazing because I always thought I was scared of heights, but I still mustered up the courage to do it and I was able to overcome this fear.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm happy to teach about photography, veganism/vegetarianism, interesting ways to travel as an insider, how to acquire US real estate for dirt cheap. I can share many awesome places to visit in Toronto and surrounding areas. I'm anxious to learn from people and their experiences in their home countries, etc.
