About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Travel and learn as much as possible :)
ABOUT ME
I grew up in northwest Indiana, 10 minutes from Lake Michigan and about an hour outside of Chicago. I studied Japanese in high school and decided to move to Japan to teach English after I graduated from college. I have been here since July 2009. I enjoy learning about Japanese language, traditional culture and pop culture. I love exploring, going to concerts, and hanging out with good people.
PHILOSOPHY
I live my life to learn and share what I've learned with others. I think we grow a little bit and gain perspective with every new person we meet.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I like to spread awareness of CS by word of mouth. It's such a great way to travel!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've hosted quite a few people in my home in Japan and I've always enjoyed it. I find that people that are interested in doing couchsurfing are generally very laid back and have great stories.

Music, Movies, and Books
Recently I've been getting into a lot of international music, especially French and Brazilian Portuguese. I like rock, indie, pop, rap, pretty much anything. I like all types of movies except scary ones. I love reading. My favorite books are Harry Potter. My favorite Japanese author is Haruki Murakami.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Rafting and canyoning in Shikoku was an amazing experience. That was some of the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen in my life. Watching the sunset over the ocean from a seaside onsen (public bath) in Yamaguchi was pretty amazing, too.
Going across Canada and through the Rockies by train and watching the sunsets in northern Nevada are also officially on my favorite memories list. If you can't tell, I'm into natural beauty.
