À propos de moi

I enjoy meeting people from all around the world, having worked in a university, it affords me the opportunity to talk to students from many parts of the world. We're all more similar than we are different. I'm very family-oriented, I enjoy photography, learning languages, learning about and enjoying wine, and seeing more of the world.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

Having never tried anything of this sort and always having traveled in the safest ways possible, I've always secretly wondered about this network. I've wondered if it's safe for women and though there's sometimes an element of risk in hanging out with strangers, the idea of meeting people across the world and experiencing or seeing the casual, non-tourist side of their lives is appealing.
I had the image that CS could very well be just for "hooking up" and for the 25-and-under crowd. Seems as if it's much more. It allows one to experiencing a culture by meeting natives and learning about off-the-wall places. Having read some of the great profiles, and having seen great reviews, it seems attractive!

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

It was all on the same trip, so I guess it counts as "one" and it may not have been amazing, but it was pretty exhilarating: I visited Alsace, including one of their most beautiful villages, then rode to Germany with an American military family who just happened to hear me asking about how I would get from France to Germany by train. That evening, in Freiburg Im Breisgau, I tried my first Air-Bnb experience in the spotless home of a hilarious German school principal. This was the night that Germany beat Brazil in the semi's of the FIFA World Cup. Having wine and tapas with a group of German women as we cheered for the winner, yet felt bad for the losing team, was a very memorable experience...and a nice change from the insulated and boring environment of a hotel room. I then train-hopped to Switzerland for the Montreux jazz fest, followed by 9 days of trains, buses, ferries and hikes, and that was pretty cool.

Ce que j'aimerais partager avec mes hôtes

I'm friendly and adapt to my surroundings. I try to travel light. I'm not up for 1 a.m. drinking binges, but I do enjoy going out. I like to experience the local culture of a new place, as well the scenery, pastries, coffee and wine. I respect boundaries as a guest and hope for the same, I would never leave someone's place in a mess! I don't intrude though I do like learning about cultures and some day hope to host people from different parts of the world.
