About Me

I was a host for several years on Couch Surfing and have had some amazing experiences hosting 80+ people from all over the globe (not all at once). I have made great friendships and am still in touch with many of these people. My old hosting name was "Geeat_Glasgow_Sofa". If you recognise that name please get in touch (again!)!

It's hard to describe yourself in a few words. "Optomistic Pessimist" could work -- I think that the worst things will probably happen so we should enjoy ourselves and make the most of life before these worse cases occur.

I have a terminally funny outlook on life, there are some terrible things in the world but I'm never going to stop laughing at or with most of the things on this planet. My favourite rollercoaster is the corkscrew. My favourite bird is an angry Swan, named Bernhard.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am soon going to be travelling across Europe, from Greece to Isreal and would like to meet real people rather than stale hotel rooms.

I left Couchsurfing in 2014/15 due to disagreeing with the way CS T&Cs state they can sell all our information to 3rd parties (ie advertisers).
With my previous experience on Couchsurfing (and my friends reminders they're still on it!) i've decided to rejoin!

Music, Movies, and Books

Lots, it all depends on mood. And company.

I would say I definitely prefer factual books rather than story books; such as books by academics about how the human brain works, how we learn languages (a topic I find fascinating) as well as more recently books about psychology (recommended by a CS friend!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've done a lot. Paracending in Austria in 2008. Climbing the Finnieston Crane in Glasgow, an 80 metre abandoned crane and seeing the sights of the city at 3am in a thunderstorm in 2012. In 2013 sitting in the roof of a 6 story building and watching the sunrise with my mate. That was amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a qualified chef, and I can show you how to cook amazing things.

I know various games (esp. card games) we can play.

I can tell you how to go about protecting your digital world (cos that's my job). #

We can have long and winding conversations about architecture... and how large groups of humans behave less intelligently than any individual human of the group.
