About Me
It's hard for me to write about me.
I'm a Missionary Kid who grew up in France of American parents. And if that wasn't enough, i'm the last of 9 kids (born over 2 continents and 3 countries). I say this first because these things inform/have effected who I am now.
I have an unusual life-course as I dropped out of university in France after one year, moved to the States, worked for 4 years , went back to college graduated with a BA in Historical Theology : Church history, worked for 4 years, went back to school for a BS in midwifery and i worked as a midwife in postnatal care and labor and delivery for 3 years. While working that last year i took a course in tropical medicine. I am now a missionary in 🇨🇮 Cote d'Ivoire (🎉 Vive Les Éléphants ⚽ !!!) where I have lived for the past 4 years.
My work experience include, but is not limited to: childcare, working with people with disabilities, mobility assessment, orphanage work, NFP, clerical work, concierge, cow herder and milker :), fence mover, stone picker, toad thrower, etc...etc...etc...
I love to travel, see new places, meet new people. I regularly suffer of wanderlust, and quite regularly give in to it. I lived in the same home till i was 17 and since then have not been able to live in the same place for more than 3 years.
I now live in a village in West Africa. Everyday really is an adventure. We sometimes have running water and have power most of the time. 2 kids have been entrusted to me to support and raise. My life is very different from what it was in the West. I haven't really been working as a midwife these past 4 years, as I've been learning a local language. My dream is to start some mobile midwifery bush clinics in the next couple of years.
I view every day as a new adventure, as long as my inner compass still points true North (to God) and my map (his Word) is at hand.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I had a fairly large place in Brussels for just little me and I loved to fill the space with new acquaintances and friends and share what i'd been given with others. I'm so excited to meet new ppl. Through my travels i have learned to treasure all new acquaintances. You never know who might be a kindred spirit with whom you might walk a few miles down the road. People are so interesting. I now live in northern Ivory Coast. At this point I have a small place again but very few beds, so if you don't mind sleeping on a mat on the floor I might be able to host you. In the mean time i'm meeting people thru being a guest.
I look forward to meeting you and hearing many of your stories.
