I'm an old-skool couchsurfer -- I do it to meet, share and experience. I've had great encounters with CS friends I had met over the years and am looking forward to more!

If you want to surf with me, please be clean and appropriate. I am busy with lots of things but may work around your trip schedule if you can work around my work schedule.

Interests

Yoga. Marketing. Technology. Meditation. Tao.

I'm also interested in anything that anyone has to offer. Thanks in advance for providing me with that thing that only YOU could offer : )

Music, Movies, and Books

BOOKS: A few favorites are Moby Dick and All the Pretty Horses. I've been reading lots of research and non-fiction material. Also, I'm proficient at jumping from one Wikipedia article to another for several hours. If I buy a book, it will probably be a biography about a famous person like Einstein, Steve Jobs, Alexander the Great, Gandhi, Lindbergh, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I left LA and moved to Hawaii. One of my favorite places in the world is Kalalau Valley on Kauai, HI. It is a secluded beach with fresh water falls and a river coming from the upper part of the valley. Kalalau is accessible only via 12 mile hike, or boat/kayak. Properly described as "rough, rugged, and unforgettable", it is one of the best adventures I got to share with fellow CouchSurfers. When we met the "locals" there, we learned so much from each other that it came to be known as Kalalau University!

My first trip to India I did 14 cities in India within 30 days - and that was just too crazy. Then got certified as a Yoga instructor in the Himalayas.

In 2013 I quit my job in America, and moved to Asia to experience a new life. Now I'm back in Hawai'i. Of all places, Hawai'i is where I feel at home.

Teach, Learn, Share

Some influential and memorable moments in my life (in no particular order)....

Smelling the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican. If you've seen the movie Good Will Hunting, "Sean" tells "Will" that he's a smart kid but he's not cultured because (among other things) he doesn't know what the Sistine Chapel smells like. Well, it took me many years but I finally smelled it. And... it smells like body odor from the thousand tourists surrounding you in the middle of the hall. There was no distinct smell.

Learning to meditate and quiet my mind, which led me to make friends from many different schools of thought; have lunch with the Oracle of Tibet; meet random masters; attend 10-day Vipassana retreats in 8 countries, etc.

Boulder-hopping in Joshua Tree, California -- there is magic in that desert

Mt. Pulag hike and camp at the top of the mountain -- the coldest and highest place in Luzon, Philippines.

Kalalau Valley hike in Kauai, Hawaii -- walked for 12 kilometers on steep ridges where if you slip you will die! At the end of the hike you find paradise.

Mt. Ijen Volcano midnight hike in Indonesia -- the famous 'blue flames' were below me with a full moon above glowing red in the volcanic gas and the yellow sun was rising as we stood on the top of the mountain, above the clouds.

Swimming with dolphins in Acapulco, Mexico.
Also Swimming naked in Acapulco Bay, Mexico after midnight -- felt like freedom

Yoga school in Dharamsala, India (Himalayas) -- 4 hours of yoga a day makes the body sore!

Sweat lodge and life lessons from a real Aztec shaman in Morelos, Mexico

Sitting all alone in a partially-excavated Mayan city at San Ignacio, Belize

Lava fields on the Big Island of Hawaii -- incredibly hot and beautiful before sunrise

Almost drowning in the surf of Oxnard, California after the tide swept me into heavy waves -- the feeling was that people are so small and insignificant against mother nature

New Years Eve in Manila, Philippines on rooftop of a 50-story building. The fireworks seemed endless and their smoke filled the city with an unexpectedly thick fog

Night hikes in Topanga Canyon, where I lived for much of my youth.

Bhutan. A unique and cool place up high in the Himalayas.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Do you like yoga or want to learn? Well, good! I have taught in Asia and can share a few things about yoga with you. A class can include breathing exercises, meditation, stretches and poses.

Can you cook well? Show me how to prepare something cool! I'll show you how to cook some Russian or Indian food.

I'm Apple, Cisco, Google, EC-Council, etc. certified and can advise you about tech stuff, marketing and web development.
