We are a same-sex couple that has been together for many years (since 2007). Although we are students with no full-time employment we love to travel when we can. We both love history and learning about local cultures. In every town things are often done differently from the next town along the road. A bread roll has many different names and these querks are what keep us hungry to learn.

We are currently planning a trip around the UK. Although we live in Scotland and have visited a lot of it, there are many parts we still have to visit. England, wales and Northern Ireland are still unexplored mostly. As a couple we haven't visited much of the UK but Pipa lived in England as a child and has family there so knows parts of it very well.

Pipa: I'm 27 and prefer female or gender neutral pronouns. I am very inquisitive and consider everything worth knowing and nothing to be insignificant. I've visited many places and met many people. I never tire of either of these things because everywhere and everyone is new and interesting.

Sam: I am 24 and like Pipa prefer female or gender neutral pronouns. I enjoy Dr Who and many fantasy T.V. shows. I also really like visiting castles and historical places - the driving to get to them is often fantastic too. Since many of them are off of main roads or in the middle of nowhere the roads are technical and testing.

Our trip will take in the south of Wales and England. We hope to couchsurf some of it at comp the other parts.

Pipa is blind and has some issues with pain and Sam is their full-time carer. Pipa is also a volunteer for Scotland's only LGBT helpline. We are currently waiting to start our second module with The Open University which is in Psychology.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We are on Couchsurfing not only to host people from all over the world but to live with locals and learn about locations in away that can't be done by staying in a hotel or campsite.

I love Couchsurfing because if you can't afford to travel to far flung places, they can come to your living room and an amazing exchange of local and international customs and culture can happen.

We enjoy lots of movie genres as long as they don't have subtitles.

We like most music genres however, Sam's not keen on opera or screamo/black metal.

Books have to be in audio format or they don't get finish/reread very often.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Amazing sets the bar pretty high!

Sam had her leg caught in a school bus and was dragged for a few yards - thankfully never suffered any injuries just years of mockary from school friends.

Pipa has travelled and seen red, orange and black sunsets in Thailand. In contrast Pipa has also seen the sprawling war cemetery at Goose Green on the Falkland Islands.

Together we brought a tube train in London to a stand still for 5 minutes before stopping everyone exiting Piccadilly Circus Tube station for a further 5 minutes...

As I say Amazing is a high bar :)
