Overview
About Me
Grew up in Hamilton / Stoney Creek but call Toronto home now for 13 years. Haven't really traveled much -- not counting road-trips to the USA -- but am taking the opportunity to do so now (2018).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet new friends and learn more about different cultures. Canada is great in that we have lots of different cultures and many ethnic communities, but nothing beats going abroad and experiencing what I will call 'authentic' old-world culture :-)
Interests
I grew up in a full-on Italian immigrant home (both parents immigrated from Italy to Canada) and, as such, I love cooking and preparing Italian dishes. I'm not a chef but managed to learn a thing or two from my mother! I enjoy a diverse range of topics including current political affairs (both local & global), environmental issues and economic policy. I have long been a fan of racing and am a diehard fan of Formula 1 and Ferrari in particular. The geek in me loves good 8-bit and 16-bit video games, a proper 2-channel HiFi audio setup and well mastered classical, new-age, orchestral and even rock! My favourite living composer is Ludovico Einaudi and I've seen him live twice! Despite these musical tastes, I've been exploring modern synth, retrowave and chillwave courtesy of New Retro Wave on Youtube. I'm trying to perfect my Italian (I can get by but am not fluent), and would like to add a 3rd language eventually!

Music, Movies, and Books
As above, I love classical, new-age, orchestral and good rock'n roll. My favourite movies include the old James Bond flicks -- corny but fun and not to be taken seriously -- The Back to the Future trilogy, Terminator 1 & 2 (nothing past that please!), the Batman trilogy directed by Christopher Nolan and most of the Star Trek movies (yes, yes -- I'm a Trekker!).
Teach, Learn, Share
One of my favourite sayings / bits of wisdom:
"The Universe, in its vast coldness, contains all the answers to all the paradoxes we see around us. We just need to know where to look."
What I Can Share with Hosts
Beyond good food and drinks, an open mind, a kind spirit and a good laugh now and then!
