About Me

ABOUT ME

I have never liked describing myself because I am worried I will come across as arrogant and that isn't true because actually I'm perfect.

haha, anyway I'll give it a go. I'm a British student currently taking a few years off in my studies to get some travelling done. At the moment I'm a little lost in the world but the more I experience the better I feel about life, so bring on travelling!

My friends back home are all hippies so I guess they'd describe me as a "cool dude". Id like to think that Im a friendly and likable guy. Despite the opening joke I'm far from perfect but I'm a big fan of self improvement so maybe one day I will be. haha. I try to be a yes man about everything because I don't ever want to regret not trying something when the opportunity was there.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

none, only just discovered it.

Interests

I always like the adventure of going somewhere without much of a plan because some of the best stories come from those unexpected opportunities.

I love exchanging stories with people about anything because I can't do it all myself (not through lack of trying though) but listening to other peoples experiences helps me understand the world a little bit more.

All the normal things - reading, talking with friends about how little of the night before we remember etc.

Finding new music is one of my favorite things when it comes to travelling. I used to play tenor saxophone, flute and piano but unfortunately I gave them up when I was being a difficulty teenager. In the past year or so I've really been getting back into it though which I'm really enjoying.

Music, Movies, and Books

A bit of a lame answer but I enjoy all types of music. Every type is loved by someone so I try to understand why. At the moment Im listening to country, folk, hip-hop, house, electro swing, soul, jazz, rock and grime(I grew up in london).

I spent most of my growing up time convinced every film made before I was born was not worth my time. An alcoholic who lived in Hollywood showed me how wrong I was so the three most recent films I have watched are Outlaw Jose Wales, Unforgiven and Seven Samurai.
I love the crime genre of films whether mafia, gangster or heist but my favorite director from that genre is Guy Ritchie. Lock Stock and Snatch I still watch regularly.

Books are just brilliant. At the moment Im reading various travelling books so On The Road, Siddartha and The Odyssey. If I was the last person left on the earth I would see off eternity in a library with a barrel of whiskey.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once slept under the stars in the sahara desert which was unbelievable. I was travelling with some friends of mine through Morocco and we rented camels to get us out there. The sky was so clear you could actually read from the star light!

I watched the sun rise over the Mississippi after a night out in New Orleans. My friends and I had been to see Rebirth (a local brass band), followed by a visit to a few of the city's all night "dive" bars and to cap off a brilliant night we sat on the bank and were in the right place at the right time for the perfect sunrise.

Whilst in St. Tropez (staying with a friend who had recently moved down there) there were some severe forest fires in the area. The side of the bay we were on was unaffected but at night we could see the horizon burning across the water. Occasionally an explosion would indicate the fire reaching a house. This of course was a tragedy but a really memorable experience none the less.

Teach, Learn, Share

There is no one who is not worth meeting. To think otherwise leads to close mindedness. Self improvement stems from comparison and how are you going to compare ourself if you never meet them. Also everyone has a story worth hearing, you just have to listen.

I couldn't care less if I get to forty and Im broke, living in a tent and with a wife who looks like a walrus, as long as Im happy.
