This one is for the short-term...survive moving to Montreal
I am a music therapist living in a small community in Nebraska. I have done some travelling, and would love to do more. I am always interested in expanding my horizons and learning new information.
Try to make the world a better place, one person at a time.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have surfed twice, hosted once, and met several people through the site.
I'm still relatively new to this, but I'm very excited that this site exists as it seems like an interesting way to meet new people from all over the world :)
Books, art, music, story-telling, anything that involves creativity, and neuroscience
Music, Movies, and Books
Currently I am listening a lot to My Brightest Diamond, but my music preferences change frequently.
I love to read when I have the time! A day spent engrossed in a novel is a day well spent in my book :) I just finished reading John Ronson's "The Psychopath Test" a great non-fiction meditation on how we classify and treat mental illness especially in the media.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
About ten years ago, I was travelling in Ghana, and had the chance to hike up a mountain just outside one of the villages I was staying in. Once the group I was with reached the top, we had a chance to look out on the valley below. I remember hearing all of the drumming, singing, and music rising up from the villages below. I was very moved by the experience, and it made me realize how powerful a medium music truly is. It is because of that day that I decided to become involved in the field of music therapy.
