About Me

My French is functional - my other languages are not (yet!). I'm a petite (I say travel-sized) Canadian with a love of solo travel.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Spending an indefinite amount of time traveling the globe, and would love to genuinely connect with people, especially locals, when I'm doing so!

Interests

I love & work/have worked in theatre, sports and festivals.

Want to show me the best local theatre / playwright / dance / weird performance art venue? From your old local performance traditions to your neighbour doing performance art in a basement bar for your three other friends, I'd love to tag along. Weird art things = love.

Want to teach me more about your favourite local sports team at a match? I'd love that, especially if you don't mind being pestered with questions. I promise I'll cheer for your side*, and would be delighted to take you to a hockey or baseball game if you're ever in Vancouver/Toronto! I can get into any sport, even the one that no one outside of your country has heard of (I'm looking at you, Irish hurling).

*(Notable exceptions include any time your team is playing the Toronto Blue Jays, Toronto Raptors or Ottawa Senators, teams in baseball's AL East Division who are not the Blue Jays, as well as the Toronto Maple Leafs -- I'm an Ottawa gal, after all.)

I love festivals, and have a bizarre habit of accidentally and often finding myself in the middle of a parade.

I also love architecture, alleyways, nooks & crannies, craft beer, train trips, pub trivia nights, historic houses and hammocks. I really love hammocks.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I moved to New York City when I was 17 knowing no one, and lived there for four years. I trained to be an actor and decided I didn't want to do that, but I'm pretty good at picking up accents. Theatre gets you a lot of weird jobs: I've worked for a traveling circus and as a professional wizard.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I've lived in five cities (Ottawa, New York City, Toronto, Berkeley [California] and Vancouver) in two countries (Canada and the USA), and in addition to travel off the continent have done a bunch of traveling in North America - 18 US states and 7 Canadian provinces, from big cities to small towns. If you're planning a trip to Canada or the USA, I can probably help! I also don't know how to drive, so I can tell you all about buses, trains and planes in both countries.

Canada has a ton of great music and art and I'll tell you about it/share some in exchange for your country's best!

I'm also an excellent editor, so if English isn't your first language (or even if it is!), I'd be happy to look at your resume/cover letter/love letter.
