I always thought the way to travel the world was have suitcases of money, fly and book hotels. I think that is not happening for us (my fiancee Julia and I). On top of that, Julia and I have been in a long distance relationship for about three years now.

I live in Muncie, Indiana (I know middle of nowhere). Muncie is the model small town America (yeah that should make me feel a little good). My fiancee lives in Winnipeg. She goes to University of Manitoba. Right now - we are in a phase in our lives that can easily be categorized as transitioning. We are hoping to have our own place either in Winnipeg or Washington D.C. by the end of the year. That is why we are both staying with our adopted families. I am from Afghanistan (becoming American soon). I live with my American family. Julia is Brazilian. She lives with her Afghan (adopted family).

We are both friendly and highly educated with lots of stories to tell. So promise that you will not bored with us. We love friends, wine and laughters.

As I said above — I am in a transitional phase in my life. I am new here on CouchSurfing. I am hoping to be able to find a place to stay so that I can visit. I am hoping to host Couch Surfers when I have my own place and I am able to be a good host.

My brain was wired to think politics, philosophy and human condition in general. I also have an innate ability to have fun. There is a time for the outdoors, a time to stay late in good company and enjoy existence. I love exploring places and cultures. I love making friends. I love going to a new city or even village and chat with locals. Food - don't get me started. I can eat anything that has cheese, spices on it or is grilled.

Before the Taliban took over Kabul in 96, I was friends with the boys who lived next door to us. It was 1996. The Taliban took over the city. My friends and their family left for Pakistan. A month later, we ran for our lives too. We settled in Peshawar. I knew my friends were in the same city but had no idea where in that city of 7 million people. And it was before the age of Facebook. I took a day and walks around all the neighborhoods where Afghan refugees lived. At the end of the day -I found them. We had some green tea with sweets. It felt good.
