About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Digital nomading.
Currently: Spending the winter in Andalusia.
Next (hopefully): A road trip all around the Baltic sea (only skipping Russia, for obvious reasons).

ABOUT ME

I believe this is something other people should say, not me. But I consider myself to be a positive and optimistic person. I try to take things slowly and not stress myself over things pointlessly.
I like to think of myself as a "sociable loner" - on one hand I love meeting and spending time with people, but on other hand I enjoy (and almost require) some time alone to spend just with my thoughts.

PHILOSOPHY

I guess the shortest form would be "don't hurt others". I believe that's the very basic thing that should be first rule for everyone.
Of course life is not that simple, but that's a good start for anything.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Only starting, but hope to offer a couch to those in need, as well as visit other places (currently especially Japan and various road-trips ever since I got my driver's licence).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Just once so far, when staying in Japan. Great experience, but at that time I was more in a need of something long-term. Will keep couchsurfing while on typical holiday. And of course I hope to host some people too.

Interests

First of all, I'm always happy to try new things out, after all, quite often you won't know what you enjoy before you try it.
However to be more specific, I love reading, travelling (especially mountain hiking). I like skiing and cycling (bike is my main method of transportation). I'm interested in scuba diving and climbing, but due to various reasons couldn't participate recently. Similar with martial arts, although I'm mostly interested in the "less violent" variety - aikido and iaido.
I also like computer games and I actually enjoy programming (yup, I actually do something I enjoy for work).

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm open to various kinds of media, always happy to discover something new. Of course I DO have preferences. Music-wise I'm especially interested in rock music and everything around it, but I don't mind side-trips into pop, jazz, funky, electronic music, or with the right mood classical. Being interested in Japan, I tend to listen to j-pop and j-rock quite a lot too.
I love reading books (although recently time hardly allows), and while most often I read fantasy and science-fiction, I don't mind reading anything.
I guess my taste in books somewhat reflects in films as well, however just like books, I'm open to all kinds of movies. And just like music, my interest in Japan made me get interested in anime as well.
I guess what's more important is for music/book/film to be interesting and well made/written than to be of a specific "genre".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One person's amazing thing is another's mundane stuff. But I guess two (yeah, was supposed to be one. Whatever.) things that were most amazing to me are related to travel.
One is visiting Japan (which has for some time been a dream of mine, which I still intend to top by going there for several months).
The other is an adventure - participating in a expedition from Baltic Sea to Black Sea via Polish and Ukrainian rivers using a replica of a 10th century trading boat.

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe myself to be a rather good programmer (having experience with multiple programming languages too), so that's something I can certainly help with.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Always willing to share all kinds of stories. I also dabble with cooking, so I can gladly prepare some food and/or trade recipes.
