ABOUT ME

I would consider it a pointless conceit to try to summarize myself with silly limiting labels. Some people pigeon-hole me as a geek for my fervent consumption of anime, RPGs, and fantasy. Some would write me off as a radical hippie for my far left-leaning political views. I've been called, at times in my life, an alcoholic and a stoner in both complimentary and insulting ways. My friends know me for my talents as both an avid, no-nonsense discussion and debate partner and an irreverent amateur comedian. Some notice my laziness, others recognize that I'm usually willing to pitch in a helping hand. All of these depictions are true from some perspective, but none of them feels accurate enough to begin to be a summary of the magnificent and horrible person that I am. In short, I don't know who I am, and I only care so far as it keeps me from being a total dick. What I do know is what I'm going to do next.

Spending time with me is an adventure if you're looking for something relatively novel or inappropriate to pop out of my mouth, and a chore if you place a high premium on consistency.

PHILOSOPHY

As a philosophy major, I've thought a lot about this. You can use the label "Democratic Socialist" to describe my political/ethical philosophy, and "Existentialist" for my metaphysics, but I doubt that'll be helpful to most people. I'm all about personal freedom, and I generally believe that if everyone took nothing seriously except kindness, we'd live in the best of all possible worlds. I act accordingly. The Wiccan Rede sums it up nicely: "An it harm none, do what ye will."

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As much as I would like to host, I'm preparing to move at the moment, from Texas to Seattle. Hopefully I'll get into some trouble and have some stories to tell about it on the way.

None, as of yet. Hoping to change that. I'm always up for an adventure.

It would probably take less time to list things I'm not interested in on one level or another. I am a consummate absorber and appreciator of the world around me. I spend a particularly large amount of time with my geeky obsessions
