About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Trying to re-integrate myself into German society
ABOUT ME
Originally from a small town in the extreme South of Germany (Friedrichshafen, right at the border to Switzerland and Austria), I have ended up in Munich four years ago, where I now work as a software developper. Between leaving my hometown and ending up in Munich, I lived for one year in Canada (as an undergrad exchange student) and four-and-a-half years in the Netherlands as a PhD student/junior scientist. As you might have guessed, science is my great passion. But also meeting people from all over the world. Luckily, I have done so during my stay in the Netherlands by living in a fairly international environment.
PHILOSOPHY
The only thing I think I know is that I know nothing -- and that is nothing but a guess.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love to meet and interact with people from all over the world and of all walks of life. In my mind, that is what couch surfing is ideally all about . In other words, I won't host you if I get the impression you abuse couchsurfing as a cheap alternative to hostels. However, if you seem to have interesting stories to tell, I'll be eager to hear them.
Interests
Everything science with some side-interests in politics and history. I love cycling and have done so on several longer bike trips in Switzerland, Austria, Italy, France, Spain, Belgium and Luxemburg. Furthermore, I am also an avid reader (see below).

Music, Movies, and Books
I love everything Douglas Adams has ever written. Furthermore I love the books by Nick Hornby, Bill Bryson and Robert Harris. That is just the beginning -- I basically read all the time, unless occupied by something else.c.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 2015 I went on a two-week hike through the Scottish Highlands and on the Hebrides -- it's just wonderful to see/hear no cars etc. and to be totally offline (no cell phone, no internet). Plus, the weather was amazingly bad -- and that happens to be the way I like it.
The second most amazing thing was my trip to Georgia -- hiking in the Caucasus and eating lots of Georgian food was amazing (not to mention Georgian wine).
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you nerdy things -- several programming languages or doing crazy integrals -- or give you some advice concerning cycling across the Alps resp. the Benelux countries.
Countries I’ve Visited
Austria, Belgium, China, France, Georgia, Japan, Luxembourg, Norway, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States
Countries I’ve Lived In
Canada, Germany, Netherlands
