About Me

How do I start such a question! I'm 22, from Toronto, Canada, and I have lived abroad in Mexico for one year when I was 14. By the time I was 18, I had left my home and traveled around Europe on a solo trip for 2 months. As much as I love it here in Toronto, it isn't me to stay still. I am always in the mood to get up, move, and see this world even more! Traveling as a "local" rather a tourist is how I always look at my journeys, and with that mindset, it has helped me discover and learn more and more while abroad. I have a big passion for art, music, and taking in the culture and language of where I am. English is my native language, Spanish is my second language, and I am also currently learning French. I am in a bilingual university in Toronto, but I am currently back on the road again in Ireland to see this beautiful world, share stories, and learn about other's. These are the inspiring moments of traveling. Who you come across, how did they end up there, and what commonalities are held amongst? I am very open minded, an old soul, and I am always excited to give this life a new adventure!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am moving away from home! I am on the road once again, this time the road is headed to Ireland! I am in Ireland on a Working holiday Visa and I am in search of a place to stay as i just arrived!

Interests

I love exploring what this world has to offer, and being able to experience the world in the perspective as a local; and this is why I am going to be on the road again! I love taking in what the cultures around and surrounding myself in that experience! I love football, my local club is Toronto FC.

Music, Movies, and Books

Reggae, Ska, two tone, oldschool, classical, indie, the list can go on music wise!

Love comedy films as well as documentaries.

When it comes to reading, something about a well written autobiography always seems to draw me in. There are so many interesting people around us! Let's learn as much as we can about one another!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was born, I was born with a heart condition called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), which essentially means I was born with only half of my heart functioning! I underwent 3 major surgeries as a baby, and ever since, I have always been heavily involved with the children's hospital here in Toronto helping out with studies and examinations to help better the knowledge and understanding behind this condition. Many born with it do not survive, but thanks to studies that have gone throughout the years, more and more HLHS patients are being born into a greater likelihood of survival! This is something I have and always will have patience and passion for as I understand what it is like to go through with it, and I want nothing more than future patients and parents to this condition to go through it without great worries!

Teach, Learn, Share

I study Hispanics in university and I wish to one day become a Spanish teacher. I am also currently studying French as well as I attend a French-English campus as my university. Before York University, I attended George Brown College in Toronto and graduated in Social Work to work with youth in Toronto's Sick Kids Children's Hospital.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a clean, polite, old spirited person who loves meeting new people and sharing new experiences with them. I've got many stories to tell, and a language in Spanish than I can certainly lend a hand with to the host should they be interested in learning a little bit during my stay! I can always be a helping hand around the location of my stay as well!
