About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Help folks get adventurous and experience the great outdoors of the White Mountain region of New Hampshire.
ABOUT ME
I most recently worked as a GIS (geographic information systems) specialist but I fell in love with maps and exploring at an early age and have been infected with the urge for adventure travel ever since. I've explored in Italy, Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, England, Scotland, Wales, Canada, Malaysia, Australia and 49 of the 50 states here in the US. I also had the fantastic fortune of living in Sweden for an entire winter and spent 5 months of the year for more than 10 years living and working in Australia. The Swedes and Aussies are awesome! I can't wait to return some time soon.
PHILOSOPHY
Get connected with mother earth... embrace nature, the great outdoors and adventurous physical activity and encourage others to do the same.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've got a spare room, a couch and spare floor mattresses and am keen to help support adventurous souls who want to experience this very special area.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I signed up in 2009 and although I've primarily been involved as a host I'm looking forward to couchsurfing on some future travels of my own as well. Couchsurfing is such a wonderful community and I've had nothing but terrific experiences hosting many wonderful people from around the world. I love it!
Interests
I love the great outdoors and that would explain why I live in this beautiful area in the spectacular White Mountains of New Hampshire! Mountain running, hiking, x-c and telemark skiing, road and mountain biking are my specialties. I also love exploring new areas, meeting the locals and learning about the cultural and natural history of new areas. Adventure is the spice of my life!

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm a Sci-Fi and history fan when it comes to movies and books. Instrumental music of primitive native cultures appeals to me, like the didgeridoo of the Australian Aborigines.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
As a 13 year old, I lead a 200 mile three day international (US-Canada) bicycle camping trip with my neighborhood buddies who were all of 11 and 12 years old! Then went on to do a 1,400 mile twelve day excursion across the mountains of Northern New England in year 11 in high school.
And have you ever heard of the endless summer? I lived the endless winter working in the ski business for 20 years and traveling and working between ski country in Australia's spectacular Snowy Mountains and the awesome White Mountains of New Hampshire. During this time I went without a summer for 15 years from 1982 through 1997. A very special period, but now I also appreciate summer more than ever!
Teach, Learn, Share
As a lifelong outdoors enthusiast and former coach and personal trainer, I love getting out with people to share the joys of the great outdoors through a variety of activities including hiking, x-c skiing, telemarking, adventure running, orienteering, and biking.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Curiosity and a love of the outdoors, history and good conversation.
