关于我
CURRENT MISSION
To be an innovator
ABOUT ME
I always have a hard time with these. Why? Honestly, I'm many things in one, or at least I think so. I can start on one topic, and while talking, hit two to three different yet still correlated topics in one conversation. More proof that everything is connected.
What I am is what you see and hear from me. Supposedly, actions speak louder than words.
------------------------------
Two people may say they're different, oh I don't know, conflicting personalities? But somewhere, somehow, there's a flame, however small. That flame is their humanity and nature. Beneath everything, we're all one.
-----------
Normally, I seem pretty quiet. I might be confused for a complete introvert. That's far from true. I do talk but also need my alone time. With some people, I may get awkward, especially when they share my interests. Just give me time and it might pass. I can discuss many general topics.
PHILOSOPHY
I'm big on learning. The true innovator is never finished learning. Nobody can put a start and finish line on insight.
One thing I've learned is that life should connect to values. A fulfilled person should pursue meaning. They'd quite often hurt themselves by complacency, to take commonly accepted paths. Question the status-quo. Question everything.
Understand how the world turns. This could affect you.
The disclaimer! To question everything does not mean fearmongering. It's something I notice from various people. Don't point at your opponents and call them conspirators. That's bad arguing! When I say question, I mean it. Evaluate whatever you hear. The truth comes anywhere, from the mainstream to the fringe.
--------------------------------
Regarding people, I've realized something I've had in me for years. I wish to be more open and intimate to anyone I meet, instead of being limited to people I know. I wish I could go and show some love, because you know what? You're human too. You likely have needs and wants similar to mine.
But there's something in the way. By reading my personal description, you notice how I too succumb to it. It's the fear, where you hesitate speaking to somebody, especially one you barely know. The instinct pops up, and I think, "What if others have motives different from mine? They might use my openness for exploitation. Who knows if they'll appreciate my worldviews? I'm too scared of provoking controversy! And what about habits? We have grown isolated and scared of changes."
Whatever the obstacles, I now know that maybe I'm not always the aloof and judgmental person I once thought myself to be. In me, there's a compassionate side who would love to encounter other human beings from various walks of life. Sure, my ideals might never come true. The fears and hesitations we all have is a way of living. Nobody can stop time to devote to every single person passing by them. We survive through our own social niche and leaving the rest aside.
But in that small desire, I grow. It's all I need.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm new here, but that doesn't mean I won't participate. Let the opportunities begin! :)
Right now, I don't have a couch. When I do, I will update. The only thing I could do is meet different hosts. Travel is my interest. So is creating new connections.
I am interested in finding new roommates and friends to live with for a while. I have very little money, and would love to live in new places while finding great work.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So far, it's about meeting with Austin hosts and maybe staying at their place for a while. I don't have my own room yet. When I do, I will gladly host other people.
兴趣
unschooling, life learning, veganism, writing and improving it, entrepreneurship, art, theatre, music, creativity--yes, creativity!, queer theory, beauty, gender, sexuality, travel, ideas, philosophy, food, recipe books, minimalism, activism, volunteering, making something out of life, seeing, giving and receiving experiences.
The list is a general description. Now here are the specifics. These apply to the things currently tickling my curiosity.
-I am immersed in keeping myself stimulated. Just going out for neighborhood walks and downtown strolls are enough to keep me up. Contrary to others' fears, I love getting lost and learning directions along the way.
-I'm also into finding and reading on veganism, animal rights, and vegan recipes. As a previous drawing/painting enthusiast, there's something exciting about food. Even non-vegan publication are great for ideas. If it sounds good, then veganize it. Now, if only I can get myself to cook so well! I easily get in a rut.
-Blogs are an inspiration. I would like to create my own business and help people learn from whatever I specialize in. I enjoy the occasional marketing topics inspiring me to create something and not solely depend on bosses or corporations. Not that bosses or corporations are always bad, just that I would prefer more variety. ;)
-Art, dance, music, literature, writing, crafts, theatre, comedy, film, live action, animation...techniques and behind-the-scenes glimpses are fascinating. It's too fun to learn more than the typical trivia. Oh, I don't know, trivia like who played that film and when it came out, stuff like that. Reading and listening to people in those fields input their experiences is a plus. For example, I'm quite into Golden Age Animation (1928-early 1960s) and have recently read some essays and interviews on two Looney Tunes directors. Good stuff, really! Too bad there was jealousy from one of another.

音乐、电影和书籍
I barely watch films, but here are some of my all-time favorites: Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain, Les chansons d'amour (Love Songs), Un lever de rideau (A Curtain Raiser), V For Vendetta, The Art of Lying, Coal Miner's Daughter, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Gladiator, Harry Potter films, Accepted, Borat, Carrie (1976 film version), Nineteen Eighty-Four (1984 film version), documentaries (particularly the PBS kind), classic films, etc.
Shoot! Let's list television shows. Why the hell not? Television: Looney Tunes, Merrie Melodies, The Colbert Report, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Invader Zim, Time Squad, Dexter's Laboratory, The Powerpuff Girls, Nova, Nature, History Detectives, Antiques Roadshow, Blackadder, Saturday Night Live, Are You Being Served?, Keeping Up Appearances.
Haha! It's apparent that I watch PBS, the United States' public broadcasting station(s) (also broadcasting in parts of Canada, thanks to signals and stuff).
Music: Grendel, :Wumpscut:, Rasputina, Björk, Cradle Of Filth (older stuff), Annie Crane, Ladytron, Santigold, DeVotchKa, Joanna Newsom, "Weird Al" Yankovic, The Lonely Island, Antonio Vivaldi, Nirvana, System Of A Down, Kaizers Orchestra, Suicide Commando, Frank Sinatra, Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson, jazz, country, outlaw country, some opera, some folk music. Actually, I'm into various things. These are just bands/artists I hear or have heard consistently.
Books: Nineteen Eighty-Four, Brave New World, Around the World in Eighty Days, A Journey to the Center of the Earth, The Teenage Liberation Handbook, Carrie, The Trouble with Normal, That's Revolting: Queer Strategies for Resisting Assimilation, encyclopedias, cookbooks, online articles, E-books
Magazines: There are great ones I've read throughout the years. Here are some: Wired, American Artist, American Artist: Drawing, ImagineFX, mental_floss, Scientific American, Scientific American Mind, Bon Appétit, Vogue (for the glossy ads), Elle (again, for the ads--I was into art and fashion for a while).
Recently, I'm more of a read online and digitally person. Although nothing will replace hard copied books' relaxing qualities, having informational books on my iPod is amazing. It's the same information taking less physical space.
我做过的一件不可思议的事情
Most are mental/intellectual. The physical is through travel. One time, I took the Amtrak, a train transportation system with US and Canadian routes, on August 2010, from Miami to NYC, then NYC to Boston, Massachusetts. You don't realize the beauty beneath the gritty industrial zones Amtrak usually passes through. What awed me was the scenic difference between other cities and my hometown. In seeing that, just for once, the world did not revolve around Miami or myself. There's more out there than what I live with.
教,学,和分享
Teach: taking risks. Just kidding, though apparently, my risk-taking has impacted some people. ;)
Learn: more vegan cooking tips (Please help me cook good seitan), marketing, writing, HTML, entrepreneurship, piano, songwriting, singing, music theory, acting, improv, photography, Modern (Contemporary) Ballet.
Share: my experiences, the ones I have so far. I can talk about the things I've learned on my short stay in this world.
