About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Life, liberty, and the pursuit of the perfect cocktail.
ABOUT ME
I was in Naval Intelligence for six years, and was intelligent enough to get out when my contract expired. My education is in creative writing (primarily genre-fiction, so while I can have an intelligent discussion about Ginsburg or Hemmingway, I'll be much more animated regarding Douglas Adams or Terry Pratchett). I also have a passing interest in philosophy, mythology, psychology, and a bunch of other -ologies.
As for personality, my humor tends toward the sarcastic and goofy side. I like to think I'm fairly easy going and try to avoid conflict whenever possible. I'm much more inclined to have a quiet evening with some wine and or a movie than going to a loud club (note that a "quiet night" can still include raucous laughter).
My life goal is to be a professor of philosophy at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. I want to live in a little cottage in a wooded area (which is really 90% of the island) with a cobbled walk, an herb garden, an old tweed suit and an ancient briefcase. I'm an old man at heart, yes, but I like to think of it as planning ahead. ;)
PHILOSOPHY
My personal philosophy encompasses so many things from so many angles that I'm planning on writing a book. This little space might get a bit cramped. Feel free to start up a conversation, if you're really interested. I'll likely go on for hours.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Once I have a stable place of my own, I will be more than happy to have a couch (or futon) for surfers to crash on. In the meantime, it looks like I may be needing a couch myself. Guess I'll just have to pay it backward.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I'm CS experience-less at the moment, but I'm looking forward to having something to put in this block.
Interests
Reading, writing, cycling, psychology, religious debate, mythology, philosophy
Music, Movies, and Books
Too many to list at the moment.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I climbed Mt. Fuji in 2007. I'm sure I've got something more amazing than that, but at this hour, I'll be damned if I can think of it. I'll get back to this one. :)
