About Me
Hello! I'm Quincy, a student from the United States currently studying abroad in northern France. I grew up in a small town in southern New Hampshire which is located in the greater Boston area. Until December I am living in Lille and would love to take advantage of this city's perfect location for travel. At home I study French, modern languages, and international politics. Learning about other people's languages, cultures, and general day-to-day life has always fascinated me. This is my second time in Europe (having been here once before when I was 18) and I would like to make the most of it!
In addition to being a university student back in the US I also work in a middle school (with children ages 11-14) and a restaurant on the weekends. I'm no stranger to a busy, hardworking lifestyle.
When traveling and staying in others' homes it is very important for me to remain respectful, clean, and conscious. The last thing I want to do is become an imposition on you! Clear communication is very important to me.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like the idea of making connections with people from around the world and hopefully establishing lifelong friendships. For me, staying with a local is a lot more appealing to get a "real feel" of the culture! Although I'm not currently in the position to be housing travelers, I would one day love to return the favor. I am hoping that CS will help me come out of my shell a bit more and be able to live more in the moment.
Interests
I've always been drawn to the arts! Drawing, theatre, and writing were my passions growing up because I was never particularly good at sports - though I still have a deep love for soccer/football and baseball (go Sox!). Comic books, video games, and other nerdy things like that also appeal to me. At home I often attend comic book conventions with friends. And of course I am interested in linguistics, foreign languages, and things in that family!

Music, Movies, and Books
I love indie, rock, alternative, metal, hip hop, rap, and some Kpop music.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I worked as an au pair the summer after I graduated high school. I moved to a country I had never been to before where I didn't fluently speak the language.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm always interested in learning about people's backgrounds and where/how they grew up - it's fascinating to see how that affects the way you see the world around you. I love exchanging and sharing stories.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Positive, respectful attitude; potentially useless facts about New England culture including our lovely slang; and I'm always down to grab a beer.
I'm also a native English speaker if that counts for anything.
Countries I’ve Visited
Belgium, Bermuda, Canada, France, Germany, Iceland, Netherlands, United Kingdom
Countries I’ve Lived In
