About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Building a radical community
ABOUT ME
I am co-founder of a 50 person communal house in Brooklyn, New York named Surreal Estate. This is a diverse community including people of all ages, ethnicities, religions, sexualities, transgender people, special needs people. I also run a free community bicycle workshop and an afterschool program at a community center in a poor neighborhood in Brooklyn that I helped start. I co-choreograph dance.
PHILOSOPHY
I'm a freegan political activist. I try not to work a job or spend money on anything (but rent); instead I work dilligently to create alternative ways of life outside of capitalism: a free community center, a communal house.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
At the communal house in which I live, we host abundant couch surfers - an average of three each month. Some of the people who live in our house started as couch surfers and decided to stick around. So even though my profile says I haven't hosted anybody, that's not accurate.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
On a twelve hour lay-over in London, I walked the streets during the wee hours and made friends with a Berber man who grew up next door to the famous musician Lounes Matoub. He nearly cried when I mentioned my enthusiasm for the musician, and he invited me to spend the night on his couch during my lay over.
