About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Getting from one day to the next, tripping up as few times as possible.
ABOUT ME
A friendly, open-minded and imaginative guy, kind of dreamy and dozy (but kind of down-to-earth too!) who enjoys meeting new people. I enjoy getting lost in a book, lost in a film, lost in my mind, in a city, in the garden, the kitchen…I have messy hair.
PHILOSOPHY
I’m not sure how much I regard it as a clearly-defined philosophy, but I take a lot of pleasure in the oddities of life, the words people say, the way they act, the way they talk. I take as much pleasure as I can from seeing these things in myself and finding them in other people. I would like to say this is a fiercely and consciously political act, a well thought-out and sustained reaction against the dourness and conformist nature of modern society but, the truth is…I just like being a bit silly!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Well, I’m not actually able to host at the moment but I did host when I used to live in Liverpool. I’ve also been to various Couchsurfing meetings and talks where I’ve met very many likeable and interesting people.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Err…I’m afraid I’m going to have to admit to a terrible secret: I’ve never actually surfed before. However, I want that to change in the near future! Additionally, when I “hosted” in Liverpool, it was officially my friend and housemate Liisa who was hosting – I just helped out and got involved in the socialising and general spirit of the idea! In this way, I’ve “hosted” people from Slovakia, Brazil, Germany, Australia, the Netherlands and Canada, among others. Some great times have been had.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I hope this isn’t impolite but I’m actually going to choose two things I’ve seen. And then I’ll leave you with the tricky task of deciding which amazes the most.
Just over 10 years ago, I was sitting on a large sand dune in Peru. Looking down to my right, I could see an oasis shimmering in the sun. This in turn reminded me of the even more brilliant blue waters I had seen in the Andes not two weeks previously. The next day, I was to take a 17-hour bus journey to a beautiful city in the shadow of an ice-topped volcano. The sense of promise and excitement swirling within me had become almost impossible to contain…
Just over 5 years ago, I was in a pub in Liverpool. A messily dressed gentleman came in, rain-soaked and smelling vaguely of cheese. He offered me Viagra.
Don’t worry, take your time…

Errr...Wikipedia is not a reference tool and is no substitute for sustained hard work, bringing neither the intellectual stimulation of true academic rigour nor the myriad rewards of diligence in one's subject. I might have to get back to you on this one!
Sorry.
