Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have surfed couches during my travels, but this was always unplanned (not through any website). The kindness of the people who opened their homes for me, their (sometimes amazing) stories and the interesting conversations we had are among the most precious memories from my travels. I also hosted several people that I met while travelling and who came to visit the Netherlands and sightseeing with them gave me a new perspective on the beauty of my own city/country.

Since my son was born I stayed a bit closer to home and couchsurfing provides the opportunity to bring the world into our house. He is now almost 4 and I would like to show him the kindness of people and also let him experience other places and cultures and meet other kids to play with.

Interests

I like my job, but it is quite demanding and together with the care for my son keeps me very busy during the week. In the weekends I like to spend time with my son, relax with friends, have breakfast/lunch in one of the cafes in my neighbourhood, take my (paddle) bike for a ride (although i have not done this a lot lately, my son used to love this when he was little and could sit in the front, but these days he finds it very boring), visit a museum, go hiking or spend time in the park with my neighbours and their kids. I sometimes decide in the morning to pack our stuff and drive to belgium, germany or france to spend a day or two
