About Me

Hi everyone! I'm an ESL teacher, currently living in Cairo. I'm super excited to explore Egypt, learn some Arabic, and hopefully make some new friends!

I love getting to talk and share stories with my hosts over a coffee or as we cook a meal together. I feel that I have been able to learn so much from all the wonderful people that I have met all over the world!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined couchsurfing while studying abroad in Sweden because I wanted to meet people while I was backpacking around in my spare time. After I stayed with my first host in Lithuania I was hooked!

So far I've absolutely LOVED my experience with couchsurfing. The people I've met have been amazing, and I'm always just so thankful and excited that this community exists. Couchsurfing, and the people that I have met on this platform have honestly been some the best part of a lot of my travels. As someone who often travels alone, I enjoy finding people to hangout with and couchsurfers are always such kind and interesting people who have done cool things in their life, so who wouldn't wanna meet up?!

COUNTRIES I'VE COUCHSURFED IN

Interests

I love art and music even though I'm personally not very talented in either area. I hate cooking by myself, but I love cooking together with other people and sharing a meal together. Growing up on the East Coast of Canada I love the ocean and nature and hiking. I adore coffee and I can happily pass an entire afternoon sitting in a coffee shop with a really good book. I studied Politics and International Relations in school, and I'm particularly interested in peace and conflict studies. I love learning about the history and culture and politics and language of all the places I travel too.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
I'm very open in my music tastes, but I tend to like chill indie artists a lot. Some favorites include Ben Howard, Gregory Alan Isakov, James Bay, Vance Joy and Jon Bellion. After spending a year and a half living in Korea I have also started to get into a lot of Korean rap music!

Movies:
I like all sorts of movies; action, documentaries. Recently I've been trying to watch more foreign language films to try to improve my French, Spanish , and Korean, but I also just like foreign films/indie films, because I feel like I get a broader perspective on the world when I get to watch films made outside of Hollywood. Let me know if you have any good recommendations!

Books:
All of them.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My first trip abroad by myself was to Rwanda when I was 19, and I think that's pretty cool!

Teach, Learn, Share

I love learning new things, so if you have any cool talents or hobbies I'd be happy to try just about anything! I also love learning new languages, and I'm more than happy to help people practice their English!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'll do the dishes! :)
