About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Meet all the people! Learn all the things!
We are the Marshall and Lily of our friend group. We've been married since 2014, but started dating in high school.

PHILOSOPHY

The connections you make with other human beings is what defines you and your experience on this Earth.
I had a marching band clinician say that to me almost 10 years ago. It has stuck with me ever since!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We want to travel the world, not only because it is amazing, but because there are so many people to make connections with! We want to have the chance to make friends from everywhere, whether they stay with us, or we visit them! Of course saving money is nice, but we are more concerned with our experience and the connections we make, rather than the number of zeros at the end of our bank statement.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet! :'( such a sad and dreary thing to admit...

Interests

I teach color guard at several local high schools. I started teaching right out of high school, and haven't been able to get away since!
Wil has a knack for learning instruments, and he is at least proficient at piano, guitar, french horn, drums, and voice. We are both trying to learn violin currently. And German. And Italian. We love to learn new things and have a million and a half hobbies to turn to when we are "bored."
Our average weekend consists of all the homework ever, laundry, meal preps, and and some enlightening games of cards against humanity and other board games with friends. It's pretty mild, but we make up for it when we travel:D

Music, Movies, and Books

Typical noises that come out of our speakers are: Jason Mraz, Billy Joel, Hozier, phantom of the opera, eminem, disney toonz, blues traveler, train, three days grace, avenged sevenfold and comedian skits. As you can tell, we have a wide variety of music appreciation.
Bookshelves are never large enough for our growing collection of novels, text books, and ethnographic studies. Brandon Sanderson is my current favorite. If there is paper and ink in front of me, I will devour it. Wil loves "The classics." Count of Monte Cristo, 50,000 Leagues, Of Mice and Men, etc.
Movies aren't a big thing for us. We love a good series binge on Netflix, but aren't attached to any one genre of entertainment. Frequently repeated: Gilmore Girls, Scrubs, Archer, How I Met Your Mother, and Family Guy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I marched drum corp international. Basically, I traveled across the country for 3 months, sleeping on buses and gym floors, practicing on a football field for 12 hours a day, and performing over 50 times. All in one summer. It was the best experience ever!!!! I marched with people from all over the world.
Wil taught himself how to build a computer! It is super fancy:)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach color guard, English, and pretty much anything you would assume a country girl knows.
Wil can teach music, math, and how to be a nerd( via tabletop gaming and rpgs)
We would like to learn about other cultures and anything you can throw at us! If we don't know it, we want to!

What I Can Share with Hosts

We love in depth conversations. We are happy to do our part with dishes, housework, etc. I have some carpentry skills, janitorial tricks, and can teach yoga. My husband is a mechanical engineer, and great at solving problems. We both have a wide musical background and experience teaching.

Countries I’ve Lived In
