About Me

Hi, I’m Rachel.
I’ve spent years working and living around people from different parts of the world, so I’m pretty used to having strangers from everywhere suddenly become part of my life.

I love conversations, random city walks and late night food.
I moved to Guangzhou at the end of last year and I’m still getting to know the city, and new people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’ve always loved meeting new people. When I was living in Beijing and working in camps, it was really easy to make friends.
After moving to Guangzhou, everything suddenly felt new again, so I’d love to meet different people here.
Nationality or gender doesn’t matter, I just want to meet interesting people

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite director: Wong Kar Wai
Favorite writer: Margaret Atwood
Music: depends on the mood, I listen to a bit of everything, recently my fav singer is Olivia Dean

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While staying in a hostel in Montreal, I experienced sexual harassment.
Instead of staying silent, I reported it and followed through, and he almost ended up at the police station.
I’m really proud of myself for speaking up and standing up for myself.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some simple Chinese cooking, or just cook for you haha.
I speak both Chinese and English fluently, so communication is easy.
I’m usually pretty free on weekends and live close to my office, so hosting is normally quite easy for me.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share travel stories and if you’re curious about camps or my current job we can totally chat about that too.
I actually just moved to Guangzhou at the end of last year, so if you’re up for it we can explore the city together haha.
Looking forward to meeting you!
