Hiya, I'm Rachel

Currently living in Chicago and originally from Pittsburgh. I spend all my time with my pup Bosco :) he's a German Shorthaired Pointer and we've been working to be a therapy dog team for the elderly. I work for Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly, we relieve isolation and loneliness among the elderly by building friendships and holding social activities.

On the weekends I try to get away from the city and into nature. ie camping, backpacking, hiking, beach. Every summer I sign up for a different race to train for, this year is a 65mi bike ride for BikeMS, a fundraising ride. (Last year was a triathlon) So during weeknights I'm usually training or at the dog park.

Since I live off a non profit income, I have to be frugal which has its challenges in Chitown. I'm up for anything outside and active, although I love going out for food and trying new things too!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

After leaving the college sphere, I've learned the challenges of making good friends when out in "the real world". I hope to connect with other like minded individuals and have some fun!

Interests

a few things i love: dogs, full bodied red wine, chatting with internationals and travelers, hiking, camping, running, playing any sport, and trying things for the first time (food, drink, anything!). currently dabbling in photography

Music, Movies, and Books

I love being outside and going places with my dog. Reading is great but I share my kindle account with my mom so I read mostly middle aged book club materials lol I can't go a day without spotify. I have a limited knowledge of movies and probably haven't seen the movie you want to make a reference to lol
