ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Rachel.

I am 24 years old, and I teach language arts to high schools and have tons of fun doing it. I love to read, write, think, and to inspire, and I also love hearing, telling, and creating stories.

Traveling has always been a large part of my life, and has given me many incredible and formative experiences. I have been lucky enough to have met many awesome people around the world (thanks, CouchSurfing!), tried new foods, and explored beautiful and fascinating areas. I am so excited to be a part of a community of individuals who are as eager as I am to learn from and be inspired by one another.

I have stories to share, and can't wait to hear yours!

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy is that life is something to be experienced and that it is far too short not to be enjoyed. I want to get involved in my life and in the things around em, and I always strive to find as much joy as possible in every moment, however small.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have surfed a few couches, and it has never not been an incredible experience! I love meeting people through CS; all the people I have met through this site have been wonderful, genuine, unique, and fun individuals.

I am currently in the process of moving to Raleigh. Unfortunately, I will not have a couch available until I get settled. But, as soon as I am moved in, I will be so excited to host or hang out with anyone traveling to or through North Carolina!

In the meantime, I would love to meet up with any current Raleigh residents who are up to showing me around.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

All of my CouchSurfing experiences have been wonderful ones, and, while I have primarily participated as a surfer, I am eager to start hosting as well as a way to give back to this great community and all the amazing people who have opened their homes to me.

I will never forget my CS friends, and I am always up for making more!

I enjoy reading and writing, of course, as well as art and theater.

I also love to be outdoors, especially running or hiking. And I love being in or near the water; when I travel, I tend to gravitate toward a coast.

Music: All kinds! But I do like country and indie/folk especially. Some of my favorites include the Weepies, The Civil Wars, Zac Brown Band, Regina Spektor, and Mumford & Sons.

Books: The Great Gatsby, Jitterbug Perfume, The Things They Carried, The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles, The Book Thief, Looking for Alaska, and many more!

I have to mention, again, my penchant for stories. I love hearing people's stories because everyone is so unique and everyone has something special and important to share. The best thing that I believe anyone can do is just listen - the learning will come. And that is what I want to do. I want to listen, to share, to learn, to grow.
