About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To leave behind the trappings of the conventional life path and pursue my dreams

ABOUT ME

I am not from any one place. I've always been a bit of a wanderer. I blame/credit my parents for my itchy feet since we moved a lot when I was young.
I love discovering new, beautiful places and people. I prefer to spend my time outside -hiking, camping, running, even just sitting still in awe of our incredible planet. When I am inside I like to read and watch movies and play games. I won't try to deny that I am a bit of a nerd. I like sci-fi movies/shows and I love playing games like Settlers of Catan and Dominion.

PHILOSOPHY

Love.
Love for other people - ALL other people - though I can't claim to do this well all the time. I am continuously growing.
Love for the land. I strive to live in ways that honor and protect this awesome land we are part of.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I just moved to Utah and I love to explore. I will especially be looking for places to stay in southern Utah throughout the year.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfing constantly reminds me of how much we all have in common as humans navigating life on this planet. I love that it provides opportunities to discover and explore that truth.

Hiking, kayaking, reading, cooking
I love having conversations that challenge me to think or see in new ways.
I love to laugh - often at myself.
I am crazy about the National Parks and other areas of public land that belong to all of us!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I took myself on a trip up the coast of New England and Canada for my 30th birthday. I went by myself for a 10 day cruise. I had a local beer and (as local as I could find) food in every port. On the trip I fulfilled a childhood dream of seeing Prince Edward Island, where my favorite literary heroine - Anne of Green Gables - lived. I rented a car and drove the famed "Cabot Trail" in Nova Scotia. I completely fell in love with Quebec City. I want to live there. It was the trip of a lifetime.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've traveled and moved a lot. I've worked in a wide variety of fields. I know at least something about many places and opportunities in the western half of the U.S.
I have a lot of info and connections for Alaska in particular. Even though I am in the process of moving away I know people I can hook you up with - for a job, living arrangements, activities, etc.

This might sound silly but... I can swim and I can teach people to swim. I used to give private lessons for adults in Alaska. So many people who grow up in Alaska never learned to swim. It's crazy. :)
