Hi, I'm Rachel. (I also go by Lucy.) For the last 2 years, I've been living on the north side of Chicago, in a big house by the beach with 7 roommates. Now, 3 of us -my partner (Reed), our best friend (Holly), and I - are planning a 3 month road trip adventure to California and back, beginning in September. We're hoping to explore nature, better ourselves and our surroundings, and connect with interesting new people along the way.
I like to study leadership, social justice, and healing practices. I also deeply love studying the arts and learning about different cultures, and spiritual practice and exploration is very important to me.

Music is a big passion of mine. I studied it briefly in college, so I have a little bit of a background in music theory and vocal training, and my friends and I love going to karaoke nights and jamming with musicians at home in our spare time. I also play a little bit of guitar, piano, and ukulele. Reed and Holly are also vocalists. Holly plays a little bit of guitar, and Reed is a banjo and ukulele player. We've been learning some songs together and would be happy to play for you!

My educational background is in Accounting, History, and Social Entrepreneurship. Reed is an Ivy League graduate who studied Linguistics and Theater, and Holly attended Kendall Culinary School and has worked as a line cook at several Michelin Star restaurants in Chicago. She's been giving Reed and I cooking lessons on the road, and we'd be happy to cook for you if you ask. :)

We left Chicago on September 10th, and we're taking about 20 days through the central and north west (Kansas, Colorado, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Washington, and Oregon) before spending a little over a month in California. By December, we'll be heading back through the southwest and possibly stopping in New Orleans. We can't wait to see the country and connect with awesome new people!

We're trying to travel on a tight budget, but we also love to meet new people. When we lived in our big house in Chicago, we always had 5 additional roommates, and we really enjoyed getting to know so many different people that way. We're down for a grand adventure the next 3 months, and we believe staying with interesting people through Couchsurfing will really enrich the experience and teach us a lot about the world.
