ABOUT ME

I’m a fan of almost all types of travel.

But, I can’t help noticing that certain places seem very genuine and real, where others appear as though they were planned explicitly for tourist consumption. And, while lounging in a “beach-paradise” is very relaxing, I don’t leave feeling much more awake than when I arrived. It may be odd to say so, but a vacation seems more exciting when I can talk to someone who knows what’s behind the strategically-placed palm trees and imported white sand.

I want explore with someone who knows the “why” of whatever it is we are exploring. Is it fair to want to understand, as well as see?

A few days ago, a friend of mine mentioned Couch-Surfing as the answer to this problem, and I’m excited to try it. In general, I'm looking for friendly people who don't mind sharing their favorite home-town stories.

My boyfriend and I have decided to visit Montreal over the long weekend, and this seems like a fun opportunity to experience Couch-Surfing. Admittedly, the planning of this trip has fallen more into the "spontaneous and short-notice" description than would be ideal for such an experiment. But, better to ask and be told no, then to not ask at all...
