About Me

My current mission

To live a happy and peaceful life.

About me

My name is Rachid Nomad I'm from Tagounite, very close to the Sahara Desert, where I work. I love music, especially singing and playing the drums. When we're in the desert, we often play music around a fire.

I work in a camp where many foreign tourists are staying, so I've learned to speak English, French, and a little Spanish. I'm currently trying to learn German.

Because I've worked in the desert and with tourists since I was a child, I'm also adept at cooking all Moroccan dishes. I can teach you how to cook anything: tagine, couscous, Berber omelette, and more.

I'm a very friendly person, always polite and helpful, and very interested in other cultures. Of course, I'd be happy to introduce you to my culture, my village, and the surrounding areas. There are ancient kasbahs nearby, and of course, the Sahara Desert, where the nature is breathtaking.

My philosophy

I believe in treating people with respect and being treated with respect. I come from a traditional Berber Bedouin family, and I still hold tradition in my heart.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Many tourists who stay in our camp have told me about couchsurfing. That is why I have decided to also open an account.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Music, Movies, and Books

I love our traditional music in the desert, it is Touareg music mostly. I love to play and sing it with my friends. We have also a great international festival of Nomad music in M´hamid once a year, where Nomads come from all over the world, even from Mongolia.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In the Sahara, we see many big shooting stars in the night. And the sky is beautiful in the night. It is very quiet in the night and in the nights, we often sleep outside when it is warm.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you so many things. My language, drumming, singing our traditional songs, cooking traditional food, going to the Hammam, riding the camels and so much more.
Maybe you too can teach me a song or a little bit of your language.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I invite the guests to go with me to the farm with my father to plant with him. They build mud bricks and go with me to the coffee shop.
