ABOUT ME

Happy, curious and active - my man (Derek Schaefer) and I are on an extended honeymoon exploring the world so it's hard not to wake up excited every day. We're sociable and love meeting new people, learning about new places and cultures and wearing ourselves out in the outdoors.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm lucky to have had great experiences with most people I've met so it's easy for me to believe in the essential goodness of people. That said, I think it's important to stand up for yourself: when you demand the best from people that is what you usually get.

We've hosted a few people from the US back home in Sydney - it's a brilliant city and we love sharing the best of it with others.

So many books on my book list that I love! Some recent reads have been: Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage, Half the Sky, The Road, The Education of Little Tree, anything by Roald Dahl.

I'm a self-indulgent movie watcher: love being entertained and laughing. Toy Story 3 rocked.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Hiking with my brother from Baoshan Stone Village to Lugu Lake in Yunnan, China. We walked through remote ethnic minority villages where people wore the most extraordinary ethnic costumes and from one village to the next the faces and dialects were completely different. There was also a stark contrast between the beautiful mountain and river scenery and the harsh poverty and complete environmental degradation that dominates some Chinese rural villages.

I've travelled widely and love languages so speak French and Mandarin and a bit of Spanish: always love learning about and sharing new cultures with others. I'm travelling at the moment but when back in Australia there is so much fun stuff to do outdoors that I'm keen to share with visitors.
I love to bake sweet, yummy treats and there's always plenty to go around!
