About Me
Hi,
I'm Rae. I lived in Bangkok for 3 years and came back this year for 1 more. It's been a great hub for travelling around SE Asia.
Before that I lived in Cheongju, South Korea. As of right now, Korea is still my all time favourite country.
My first experience travelling and living abroad was when I volunteered in Costa Rica, which is a close second to Korea. While there, I backpacked to Panama and Nicaragua and then wrapped up my year by travelling through Europe for a few months.
When my contract is up I'm going to take another year to travel. Not entirely sure where yet. I like to be surprised and will decide when the time comes and the mood strikes.
I'm a quiet person who likes to relax and spend time with friends. I am open minded and love to try new things. I love to laugh and try not to take life too seriously.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My last two co-teachers were/are couch surfers and hosts. They love it. I finally have mustered up enough guts to give it a try. In June I'll be heading out to Hong Kong and Malaysia and hope to try out couch surfing for the first time.
I would love to share some of my favourite things about Bangkok with visitors. Especially, if it is their first time here. I am just wrapping up a school year and will be open to host.
Interests
I like to chill most of the time. I read, write, practise yoga, bike to new areas, catch live music, go to the movies, head to the beach, or fly up to Chiang Mai on the weekends. I like to go to the Green Lung or Koh Kret to find green space so I can pretend I'm not in the city.
Whenever I can I love to hike, kayak and be surrounded by mountains.
I'm not a big partier anymore, but on the rare occasion I enjoy staying out until the sun comes up. If it's a school night I'm definitely in bed early grandmas style.

Music, Movies, and Books
I pretty much like most music except for new Country.
I love Korean films. If you haven't seen one you should. I also love horror movies. They are more hilarious than terrifying. I love it when I can find one that can actually give me a proper fright.
Murakami has been a bit of an obsession for the past year. I try to switch it up every once in a while. Currently I'm reading, Veronica Decides to Die by Paulo Coelho and just finished the Secret History by Donna Tratt.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Quit my job, got rid of all of my belongings and embraced the freedom of travel.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd love to show a visitor my favourite things about Bangkok and Thailand and also try something new together.
Everyone has a story and I'm a great listener.
I will really value the insight and advice of a host living in the new place I'm exploring.
Even though I'm an only child I'm great at sharing ;) My apartment is small but if you stay with me you can make yourself at home and relax. I'm easy going, neat and super clean. No worries about offending me if you want time by yourself or downtime just to rest.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I most likely will be a little bit shy and quiet at first but it won't last for long. My friends would say that I'm funny, honest, kind, loyal and considerate. I like a good chat but am comfortable with silence too. I'm curious and love to try or learn something new.
