About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Expanding my exposure to a world beyond imagination.

ABOUT ME

I love traveling, though I have not been out of the United States for many years and am excited to change that this summer with my first trip to Israel!

I am in graduate school for dance my main interest other than performing is choreography. The past few summers I have been lucky enough to study in New York City and also to attend the American Dance Fesitval in Durham, North Carolina. THIS summer though... I am blessed to be able to attend the GAGA Intensive in Tel Aviv, and I know my life is never going to be the same!

Just as much as I love learning about different dance techniques, I love being immersed in different cultures. I don't ever just want to be a 'tourist' and merely see 'places' in the world. I want to meet PEOPLE and get to know them and thereby see the world through someone else's eyes other than my own.

PHILOSOPHY

Its a blessing to be alive, that each breath is a gift. It is my desire to honor that gift and the best way to do that, I think, is not to be frivolous with my interactions with others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now I am looking for somewhere to stay while I'm in Israel this summer, but once I get back to the States and settled in my new apartment I will begin hosting people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've never been CouchSurfing! This is completely new to me! I had a friend in Undergrad who traveled all throughout Asia by couch surfing and she said she met amazing people and thought she couldn't have had a better time any other way so I'm going to try it too!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Arvo Part, Brandi Carlile, Tenth Avenue North, Muse, U2, Lady Antebellum, Sara Bareilles, Adele, Basia; Books: The Bible, An Anthropologist on Mars, East of Eden, Five People You Meet In Heaven, Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre; Movies: Star Trek 2009, Juno, Mirrormask, Pan's Labyrinth, Labyrinth.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing is about to happen and that is my upcoming trip to Israel... can't wait to see what happens there!

Other than that, working as a Stagecraft Apprentice for the American Dance Festival last year enabled me to learn a lot about working backstage (I spend most of my time either onstage or choreographing). I got to hang from beams 50 feet above the stage and focus lights which was pretty cool and slightly terrifying. Even better, I got to meet members of dance companies like Pilobolus, Inbal Pinto, Brenda Angiel Aerial Dance Company, Monical Bill Barnes, and Kate Weare... SO COOL! If you haven't heard of any of these people you should definitely look them up!
