CURRENT MISSION

I will fight a war of love with words as weapons and stories as swords. I will fight never alone but in community, created and sustained by the strength of my friends. I will open my arms wide against fear and embrace an unjustified, unwavering hope in human goodness. I believe we all want to be welcome and to feel warmth; that we want a future for our children that is better than the world we live in now, one that is rich and bright with color and song; that this world is possible, truly, in our lifetime. And this is the world for which I will fight.

ABOUT ME

My name is pronounced as if the R were an H, which is how one would pronounce it in Portuguese.

I like learning from people, places, and things, not necessarily in that order.

I think a lot, and love to think aloud with others.

I like (co-)creating art of all sorts.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that everyone can contribute to the co-creation of our future. And that our future will only work if it considers the contributions of all.

I believe this act of co-creation will grow out of seeing the world with wonder and awe and acting with joy, love, and courage.

I work to make this a reality through technology, art, and community-building.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm happy to host every once in a while (when I can), am always game to meet others in the area, and love meeting locals when I travel.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first couchsurfing experience was in Cape Cod with my then girlfriend, and our host basically offered us her entire house. She was off to spend the night with her boyfriend, and trusted us with everything she owned. This is the kind of trust Couchsurfing inspires, and I think it's incredible. Since then, I've surfed a little bit in New Zealand.

Interests

Considering going to rabbinical school or starting a theater/film farm. Writing a novel. Dreaming big.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I directed the US premiere of Martin Buber's "Elijah" working with actors for six months to give ourselves to the text and see what it gave back to us. The answer: so much wisdom. And the production was awesome, taking place in an Episcopal church, involving tons of masks, 6 6-by-3 ft paintings, a football field's worth of muslin (cloth), and music drawn from everything from South African protest songs to Indian classical music, Western classical to jazz.
